Quote by Coach Dooley on Recruiting

I agree that at this point, we have no choice but to give him a chance. However, if it's clear that he can't do this job, I hope we fire him quickly instead of waiting around. If after two years it's clear he can't do the job, we should fire him then, instead of giving him a chance to destroy the decade.

I agree with this. We should have a solid squad next year. Gotta turn it around.

We are going to do very good in recruiting and he has some legit peices on his staff: Wilcox, Thompson, and Smith. I'm not really sold on Dooley or the rest of the staff yet, but I'm not gonna come on here with the arrogance that I know for a fact Dooley is gonna fail.

Sounds like a lot of excuses. Kiffin was on his way to a top 5 class his first full year in before he skated.

Maybe so, but his depth chart would have still sucked as bad as Dooley's does, because it would have been the same players minus the incoming freshman. Even O said they were still behind in the '11 class. There is a reason that kids don't talk about Tennessee, and it's not because we are a terrible program, it's because they don't see the same people each time we go to see them. A lot of these kids know what instability is, and want to do what is necessary to stay away from it. That's why even the "elite" recruits weren't even considering us last year, because they wanted to see if Kiffin was going to stick around. Well, you obviously see the recruits were right about not considering us.

You already have come on here with the arrogance he is going to be successful

The way his contract is structured, he will probably be here a minimum of 4 years. By then, if we haven't started to see some fruits of his labor, by all means start over.

A lot of kids know what incompetence is. They'll see that on the field and sidelines this fall and do what is necessary to stay away from it.

I disagree with Hat in that we've lost the decade. We're only going to lose the decade if we do something stupid like hire Fulmer as AD, or botch the next hire if Dooley fails. If Dooley does bad, and we take care of the problem in time, things could be all right.

If he sucks after 2 years, he should be gone after 2 years. At this point, every bad year will set the program back further and further.

Or, they will say that Dooley is here to stay for a while, and since they have basically no depth chart, then I can come in a play early to help keep him around. Our depth chart is a key element of selling UT right now.

You can't downplay winning 12 games in 2 years and being off the national radar for basically 6 years.

. . . and if sending in the same people mattered, how did Kiffin pull off the 09 class?

So, if any coach sucks for 2 years, then we should get rid of him right?? That's the wrong thought process to have when trying to rebuild a fallen high-profile program. It takes time and stability.

Kiffin did say when he was hired that every recruit that he recruited while at usc had tennessee on their list or were seriously considering us.

You already have come on here with the arrogance he is going to be successful

lol no, I come on here to tell you that you are wrong in thinking recruiting isn't going good. It is.

I THINK Dooley will be solid, but I don't know. Like I said, I'm not sold on any of the staff but Wilcox, Thompson, and Smith.

Kiffin pulled off the '09 class because he got two key commitments that are not going to be playing this fall. The '09 class is possibly the most overrated thing Kiffin ever done.

Oh please. If they think Dooley is incompetent, they'll never come here, no matter how much stability we have.

You keep bringing up stability, but stability isn't nearly as important to good recruits as winning or getting into the NFL.

Yeah, I can see that thought process. "I'll pass up offers from the Sabans, Meyers, and Stoops of the world to go play for an idiot at a program that will be lucky to make the Music City Bowl the next three years." That'll work out just perfect.

Wash your hands when you get up. I wouldn't want your guys to send out tainted orders of fries. Now, take your 9 dollar an hour, couldn't get a decent education or job, my life revolves around pretending to know something about recruiting to prepubescents ass over the milkshake machine and get that kid his large vanilla.

LOL! This guy is great!:lolabove:

I honestly wish I made $9 an hour or had went to college :lolabove::eek:lol::birgits_giggle:

now, I apply the exact statements to you but replace "recruiting" with "basketball."

Looking at several of our assistants, that won't be a problem here.

With 2 recruits, Yeah ok. Now you are making me laugh harder than HatVol

you mean guys like Jose Jose, Pat Harris, Risean Broussard, and Ralph Williams who we were stoked about this time last year and convinced ourselves they were beasts?
