Random Recruiting News

:mf_surrender: I had no clue everyone would take it personally. You are right Sab, it is April. But the month in the state of Alabama is April too and they have around 6 recruits I believe. I am done talking about this because this is off topic and this probably ticks off MODs.

It's also worth noting that we already have a commitment for next year's class as well.

Saw Bruce Feldman at Davis-Kidd in Green Hills tonight
He spoke about Coach O as well as recruiting in general for a good half hour. It was really cool to hear his perspective on everything. I got my signed copy of Meat Market and spoke with Bruce for a moment after he was done signing copies. Very nice guy.

I thought the board would find this interesting: He said he sat with Orgeron when he was evaluating Chris Donald and Chris Walker on film when they were seniors in high school. Bruce said that Orgeron was less than impressed with Donald when he watched him lifting weights on film. Said that when Donald was doing squats or deadlifts (I can't remember which) he looked very stiff, and didn't have good work ethic in the weightroom. However, Bruce said that when Orgeron saw film of Walker playing basketball he knew right away that he was an exceptional athlete and had a chance to be a special football player.

I'm just paraphrasing that story with my own words, but that was basically what he said. Thought some of you would like to know.

from a poster on TOS

Sounds like Orgeron knows how to accurately access players in HS. Donald hasn't lived up to the hype still.

today at practice

When a receiver fumbled after catching a pass 20 yards downfield, receivers coach Frank Wilson raced to the scene and jumped on top of the pile of bodies scrambling for the recovery. Secondary coach Willie Mack Garza responded by grabbing Wilson's ankles and playfully pulling him from the pile. The energy level of this coaching staff is remarkable.

Lattimore is writing a recruiting "diary" (more like a blog) for ESPN. He added a new entry yesterday. Here's an excerpt of what he said:

When I went to Georgia before they told me I was the No. 1 guy at running back. When Mack Brown went down last week they told him he was their No. 1 guy at running back from what I've heard. I want to find out if that is true.

But, behold, UGA did in fact tell Brown he was the #1 RB on their board - at least according to Brown, reported by UGASports.com. Here's a quote from Brown:

"They said I am their number one guy on the board at running back, that made me feel good," Brown acknowledged.

That is funny right there. Did he give any more comments regarding Mack Browns statment?

Georgia scored two solid pledges late last week – from Buford (Ga.) High defensive tackle Kolton Houston and Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola linebacker Marc Deas.

Lache Seastrunk, the nation's No. 1 running back, called his unofficial visit to Auburn this past weekend "the best experience I ever had."

Wow that is surprising I figured he would like LSU or others better. He needs to come up to UT then.
