Marlon is now up to a solid 290; he's working out daily with a personal trainer, and at Coach O's request, working with Memphis Melrose lb, King. Marlon, allegedly, will complete his course obligations in May;something about keeping 4 pages daily of his work done, so as to no questions. King, allegedly, is one point from qualifying. Some of the Memphis players visiting Memphis this week end said: Crompton is so much improved over last year; he's their choice of qbs, but all of them "have mental lapses". They, the five, when asked, did not see any other transfers, quitting. I did not ask them directly about Donald. They emphasized the difference between previous coaching staff and this "like night and day", meaning energy, enthusiasm, "going 100 mph all the time, etc."
Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. were discussing Brian Orakpo on the ESPN First Draft podcast today and had this to say.
McShay: "Brian Orakpo is a player some teams are starting to get skittish of to be honest. And part of it, I have heard from two different NFL teams, "The Texas Factor."
Kiper Jr: "What's the word we hear from NFL people when they review Texas players Todd? Soft.
McShay: "Exactly, that's exactly it."
