IMHO not-to-be-missed TV for all Vols fans is the O & W game half-time: 5 - 6 minutes of practice film which should make all of us confident that this group of coaches will get the job done! I have had the good fortune to see many practices over the past several years and they pale in comparison to the intensity and sense of urgency the current staff is instilling. From Monte saying 'its not a good day to work, its a GREAT day' to Coach O urging a D lineman 'don't let me hit you in the face' during a hand-fighting drill to CLK sprinting to the next drill and smack-talking 'I can't believe I just beat Rogan to the next drill - you're supposed to be 4.3 aren't you?' The intensity is palpable.

Re-airings on SportsSouth today @ noon and Thursday @ 8 PM Eastern.

Do yourself a favor and watch or TIVO or tape it, but whatever you do don't miss the Lane Train - you're either on it or under it.

quality stuff

As far as the whole I talked to the parents thing, there are two ways to look at it. There are those kids/parents who have been babied into believing that everything would be OK when Fulmer was here and they would have a easy road to playing time and other things. Then once Kiffin got here and the loyalist era ended and they had to work for it they are now upset. Then there are those wanted to compete the past few years, but because of loyalist views they were relegated to the bench even though they felt they did a better job. These kids/parents are loving it because now the best players are going to play and everyone is equal. Some of it is bitterness as well.

Every big name (Berry, Walker, Hardesty, etc.) that I have seen interviewed has raved about the new staff, so what big names would they be talking about. I agree with you Eric, this loyalty thing is over and some don't know how to handle it.

*QB- Jesse Scroggins got QB MVP over Bryan Bennett, Tyler Shreve, Brandon Connette and Nick Hirschman. Jake Heaps and Nick Montana were no-shows. Scroggins is "built like Russell Shepard last year, but he throws the ball like Tajh Boyd.".

*DE- Ronald Powell looks like a 5* lock in the next rankings. Got MVP over Ricky Heimuli, Josh Shirley, and George Uk

from a poster on TOS

more than likely the big names are just that..... "names". Guys that feel they should be handed position because of their name that has been in the lineup under fulmer. The guy's leaving are the guys that won't be playing so the only thing it hurts is depth for injuries.

Fred Pickett is another player from south Florida with scholarship offers. Pickett, 5-11 and 162, has scholarship offers from Florida International, West Virginia, Florida State and Illinois State.

another kid from Pahokee, man that school is loaded

lamarcus joyner and chaz green:
Both players are going to be tough pulls for the Vols, but there's the family history with Green and the Gran factor with Joyner. Not to mention that the Vols could, as someone noted in another thread, really piece together a dynamic secondary with Myles Jr. and Jackson coming in. So if those guys are able to play early and UT continues to be a hot team in recruiting, Joyner isn't out of the realm. I think there's hope of getting Joyner back to campus for another unofficial in June. That earlier was the plan. You have to figure as good as the atmosphere was for the O/W game, an official visit experience would be even better, and quite frankly, FSU is a program in a much greater state of flux right now than Tennessee.

Rex, do you know anything about the JUCO kid, Cameron, I think is his name. Apparently we are at the top of his list. I've heard many comparisons to Cody.

Tennessee is my first choice right now, they are definitely my early favorite,” Carmon said. “I have a lot of interest in Tennessee; they are building a program that will win a lot of national championships.”

He's a monster. I dont know if there is another guy like Cody out there, but JC is close.

Carmon likely ends up on the OL IMO. He doesn't possess nearly the lateral quickness or freakish athletic ability of a guy like Cody. He simply overpowers his opponent. I see him as a likely tackle.

I almost see him as a guard, but he has so much potential at tackle.

Don't get me wrong -- the guy is a good athlete and has a mean streak, but he doesn't move all that well horizontally and his feet aren't quite that quick. I just think due to his size and technique he's better suited for the OL.

Dude it's freakin April '09. Guess when signing day for this class is??? Mar '10. Thanks 11 months away. Do you realize that 3 of the recruits that signed after signing day this year SIGNED with UT??? Janzen Jackson, OKU, and BB. Not bad for a staff that hade been together all of 2-3 months.

MADISON, Wis. – Dustin Sherer had a solid, but not exceptional, spring football season. Scott Tolzien showed a general knowledge of the offense and threw a decent ball throughout. Jon Budmayr stepped onto campus fresh out of high school and threw the ball without hesitation and showcased a seemingly natural talent as a signal caller.

But Curt Phillips may have outdone all of the quarterbacks during the recently concluded 15-practice spring schedule.

Curt Phillips may have tightened the race for the No. 1 spot this spring.
His ability to make plays on his feet has forced the Wisconsin coaching staff to consider a separate package to get him on the field. That is, of course, if he doesn't overtake Sherer, who is currently No. 1 on the depth chart.
