Real HC Options

You may be right, but after Gruden, I believe nothing I read on here in that regard. Nothing personal and not saying your sources are wrong, I have just learned that lesson the painful way.

I am ever the optimist, but this situation and that one feel very similar unfortunately.

I would love to have Bruce back , but I just don't see it happening . Hiring him back would be like giving the NCAA the metaphorical middle finger . We can't do that while we are on probation . I know Smart and Marshall weren't interested last time while the NCAA was all over us , but I would try again . Buzz Williams would be nice , but I wouldn't think he would want to leave Marquette . That's a really good basketball school

2 people on this board, 1 who I personally know, have claimed he would be very interested. So yea, I think he would come, I trust this persons info.

Buzz makes almost as much as Butch. 2.8m
Would he take a pay cut?

IMO, it is going to be extremely difficult to hire a coach this time around when the majority of the fanbase screaming for Pearl. Once CCM is fired, it will be unlike any other university has seen screaming for Pearl to be back. What established coach would come here knowing that the fans will be unhappy with his hire. An established coach will have other options and I think they will shy away from TN. It's either a no name mid major again or Pearl.

Yeah that's why you hire Pearl like yesterday. Hubbs, Richardson, and Thompson are hoping this happens.

As long as booger eater and the rest of the highers ups remain in charge, CBP will not be walking back through that door. We also know that UT won't spend the money to hire a real coach, so coaches like Smart, Marshall, Howland, etc. won't be considered.

Accordingly, we will be hiring another mid-major, so who is out there? I've heard Pitino, Jr. mentioned some and Rick Byrd would probably be an option as well. Let's hear some other REALISTIC options.

The money will be there. Football is getting better with Butch. Plus UT will have the Nike money next year. I think Hart want to have basketball and football back on top.

If u get the right guy, the fans will support him. We all screamed Gruden, but I don't know a soul who doesn't support/adore Butch.

Speaking of which, that dynamic is going to be really awkward come the end of the next football season. I fully expect us to end up 5-7 (because of talent at key positions and mediocre coordinators, not head coaching) and a portion of the fan base is going to turn on Butch. People need to be patient with Butch, I think he has walked into a bigger mess than Dooley did.

This is all relevant to basketball because no matter who the next coach is next year, unless they recruit some premier freshmen (assuming Stokes leaves), there isn't a chance in hell we make the big dance

I remember having those thoughts about the last team Bruce took over too. Lol. Then! Win after win. We danced!

Keep a look at the teams in the NCAA who are from the mid level pool. The Cinderilla team of this tourney will be hired by Hart.

We hired Buzz after he had a good tourney run with Tulsa. We hired Bruce when he had a good tourney run with Milwaukee. We hired Martin when Missouri State made the tourney.

Hart will hire an over achieving mid major coach and hope to get him at a cheap price.

Butch was able to get a top 5 recruiting class. You think a coach will come in here and boom automatically all the top 50 players will flaunt to play for him at TN. We will have a dreadful team next year. Whoever comes in here will unfairly be crucified by the talent that CCM will leave behind. If Pearl is still unemployed, then there is only 1 coach that the fans really want.

That's why I think it almost has to be Pearl, because he's so popular no one will care if it takes 2-3 seasons to get back to the NCAAT.

Anyone else I'm afraid they'll be lucky to make it into season 2 without calls for their head.

I agree to an extent, but you find me a C.J. Watson or Christ Lofton on the 14-15 roster and I will show you some homes with ocean front views in Alcoa.
