a realistic expectation is for tennessee to create a clear line of separation between themselves and the bad teams in the league.
they beat who they "should" beat.
that would be a good place to start.....and not be a pushover at home
Simply put, these games are not be winnable ...
@ Bama
@ UF
UGA
USC
@ Oregon
These games will be tough
@ Mizzou
Vandy
WKU - (See last year's Troy game)
Aub
We should beat the following easily:
@ Kentucky
Austin Peay
South Alabama
For those predicting 7-5 I'd recommend you lower expectations to 5-7. You don't get waxed by Vandy, lose Bray, Hunter, Patterson, Rivera, and Rogers, install a new offense and get better the following year.
Until I see some us recruit some gamechangers on defense and equal or decent talent to replace those leaving the offense, I think this is a 6-6 team tops that could easily be 4-8. The schedule is brutal and the pantry isn't as stocked as some seem to think.

I would say @Alabama and @Oregon are not winnable games. I think we can grab one W out of @UF/UGA/USC. Vandy/@MIZZOU/AU will be tough and could get one L out of those 3. The other 4 games should be W's. Just based on returning talent, we will be competitive. Incoming freshmen only strenthen our team and overall depth. I think it is fair to expect 7 wins. 6 is realistic. 5 is realistic as well. 4 is pushing into unrealistic territory. I think it is more possible to get 7 wins than only 4 wins. I know it's all in how you look at it, but that's the way I see it.
yeah, i just can't put that one in the not winnable group. albeit, i think there is more of a chance to beat uga or usc than uf. i'm just not impressed with fla's offense. i see UT's defense improving moreso than UF's offense next year.
there's a reason you play the games
however, it's a road game against a ranked opponent.
in addition, the week before tennessee is at oregon and florida has a bye week.
yeah that is a valid point. i look at coming off a tough game in eugene as helping the vols prepare for a ranked, inter-divisional rival on the road. i'm not underestimating Florida, they will be the 3rd toughest game on the schedule behind @Bama and @Oregon. Just feel the match-up is more suitable for a win as opposed to bama and oregon.
We should be able to beat Vandy, Kentucky, and Missouri. We should win the three non conference games. We should be able to handle Auburn they are no more talented than we are. This would give us seven wins.
