Realistic expectations for next year

What would you be happy with, 7-5 and a bowl game? I mean I say 7 wins or over and I will be happy for that year. I mean the schedule is brutal and I just hope we win the games we are favored in and one or two we are under dogs in. I think as long as we beat Vandy and the rest of the teams including Mizzou that we lost to this year plus the WKU and lower level schools we face CBJ will have exceeded my expectations for that year. Maybe we get lucky and beat SC or UGA and get 8 wins at best but I def hope for wins against Vandy, Mizzou, Uk, Auburn and the low level teams we face.

Agree with the defence, and the ones we are losing on offence, 7 and 5 would be good.:good!:

Folks I think we will upset Vandy but have no doubt they aren't the door mat we are use to that honor belongs solely to KY right now.

That sound strange looking up to Vandy, didnt think I would live long enough for that to happen.:eek:hmy:

6-6 and a bowl just considering the schedule. Malzahn has a lot less work to do as Auburn recruited well the last four years.

I think its fair to say UT will lose one game they shouldn't. however, i think they can get over the hump with butch and win one they shouldn't. AU and VANDY could go either way, but hopefully home field is an advantage.
In order of difficulty:
1. @ Alabama- L
2. @ Oregon- L
3. @ Florida- L
4a. UGA- L
4b. SCar- W
6. Vandy- W
7. @ Mizzou- L
8. Auburn- W
9. @ Kentucky- W
10. W. Kentucky- W
11. S. Alabama- W
12. Austin Peay- W

Not being a Negavol but I don't see where you guys are getting these 7 or 8wins. We will go 3-1 in out of conference and 2-6 in conference play. Auburn and Kentucky will be our SEC wins. I don't see us beating Vandy or South Carolina. To get to a bowl, we will have to upset Vandy. I can't believe what I just said. I oughta be flogged for that, but this thread is about realistic expectations. I think we got 5-7 for another consecutive year.

I hate to have to agree with you, but I have to agree that 5 - 7 is a very realistic expectation... especially considering the circumstances you mentioned. I would say 5 - 7, or 7 - 5, at the very best. I hope we are wrong and the team goes 14 - 0; however, I'm definitely not taking that to Vegas!

GBO.............. despite Cheek and Hart.

I'm not judging next year by the W-L but by seeing a team who is competative from the opening kickoff to the final buzzer. Passion on the field and a team the volnation can be passionate about. Sure 7 or 8 wins would be great, he{} 14 would be even greater but that would be a lil unrealalistic. I want a team to give me their all for 4 qts. and a coaching staff that doesn't look like they have no clue in the third qt. It will be nice to see a team that can adjust to the other team if they change something up after halftime, and we can actually adjust to that and overcome it.

As long as we learn how to finish in the second half or at least make half time adjustments I will be happy, but I still want to win them all every year.
I'll let the way the year plays out determine my happiness though

No way one can expect until after signing day! I only expect to give CBJ time to rebuild UT!

4-8 or 5-7 at best...must be realistic....it is what it is
we won't beat Auburn or Missou or Vandy or Ga or Bama or Fla or SC.......Western Ky is a toss up or loss....3-9 is definately possible.....again it is sad and it is Bad

It is Very Bad......

7-5.....8-5 with a bowl win.

That's what I thought about the 2012 season.

Didn't happen.

At the bare minimum though, we remain with TOSU as the only two football programs in the NCAA who have never lost 8 games in a season.

I suppose that is the silver lining in our current losing streak.

Is there a schedule for next season available?

Unfortunately, i think we are gonna go 6-6 and make a toilet bowl, but hell any bowl would be nice

Dumb statement, although I think 6 or 7 is more likely, 8 is not impossible. We were a td or less away from a win against USCe and Georgia with Dooley and Sunseri.

You do know we will be without Bray, Hunter and Patterson next year? We will score a lot less next year!

Win the games we are suppose to and compete in the rest. Also not get completely blown out by AL and FL. And it would be really nice to see us have a chance to win one of those, just a realistic chance.

And that was at their place. I think we can win 8 + possibly a bowl to give us 9. If we get that stud RB (D Green), the we can turn some heads. That would be fantastic in CBJ's 1st year.

Vandy loses Zac Stacy and Jordan Rodgers. That is the bulk of their offense and they play at Neyland=w.
Kentucky=w Auburn is in trouble and bad=w. SC loses Latimore and comes to Neyland=toss up. Georgia loses QB and has 7 def players who are 1 or 2 round picks and plays at Neyland=toss up. Plus three out of conf wins.
Worst case 6-6 3-5 sec middle pick 7-5 4-4 sec best case
8-4 5-3 sec which is not entirely a pipe dream. At the end of the day what really counts are week to week improvement and the little things. Clock management /men on field/ learning again how to tackle as they have been taught since pee wee football.

4 wins tops. You guys getting your hopes up. haven't ya'll learned from the past 10 years of crap. we beat AP, WKY,S. ALA, Ky, and thats it. Vandy beats us again. MO is @ MO.
We are no longer the UT of old. this is a brand new era of football and we ain't relevant. Not for a while, anyway. We lost our 3 best players and unless jesus is our qb this is gonna be ugly.

I would like at least 1 big surprise game next year. Actually win a game that we are suppose to lose. We have not done that in years....Beat a Florida, Georgia, Bama, etc. Just one would make me happy. The outcome of games with DD was so predictable. Surprise me VOLS.:clapping:

Mostly I'd like to UT have STRONG 3rd quarters. This would show me our coaches made the proper halftime adjustments. Something we have missed for a long time.

7-5 would be really good, beat vandy, be competitive in every game, PLAY/COACH every second, no "deer in the head lights looks" on sidelines...= success in my view. GO VOLS
