Reality Check for the upset minded.

As much as I enjoy statistics, Oklahoma are infamous for not holding up in games that statistically favor them.

So true on the road, but they play very well at home.

I'm excited to see how we hold up. If we can get a little bit of a run game going, our chances go up dramatically.

The last time Tennessee won a true road game that wasn't Vandy, Memphis or Kentucky was against Mississippi State in 2007.

Oklahoma is just a tad tougher than that, so the last time Tennessee beat a ranked team on the road was 2006 against #9 Georgia.

The 2007 Vols were 10-4 with an SEC East Championship.

The 2006 Vols were 9-4, 9-3 in the regular season.

Do you guys still think we will win? Statistics say hell no.

Like I need some defeatist little p---- like you trying turn me into the same!!!! F--- off and Go Vols beat chOklahoma and this little nitwit as well!

Here's a reality check. Saturday night I'll pour me a 3 Floyds in a glass, sit down and turn on the TV expecting to see a Vols victory until proven otherwise. It's like I've done every game my entire life (minus the beer til about 9 years ago). Is it the definition of insanity? Maybe. But after these past six years if you still wear orange and white you're a little crazy and should be proud to be a true VFL.

Thank you!!! That's the way I prefer to watch the Vols as well! It beats moaning and groaning like most of UT's younger fan base!!!!!!

I can't wait for us to beat Oklahoma, so everyone can say how we don't have a shot versus uga. How It's impossible for this young team to beat two top teams in a row, etc.

We pull one out of our ass in Oklahoma and fans should expect 12-0 imo. Only tougher game on our schedule is Alabama.

Funny how looking at this in a realistic way = being negavol or defeatist. I will not love the Vols any less, I will not trust Butch any less but I think it's gonna be a long night for our Vols. I have hope, and hope every Vol fan does but expecting a win is just not anywhere within the spectrum of reality.

I always show pride in my VOLS...I go into every game saying "We are gonna win today"... I have faith that they will always pull it out. B/c on any given day any team can be beat ...

How many posters who scoffed and laughed at all the overly-optimistic Aggie fans are now the overly-optimistic ones?

Yes, you are correct HOWEVER;

(1) The last time App. State beat a ranked team on the road was NEVER but they beat MIchigan.

(2) The last time that Boise State won a bowl game was NEVER but they upset Okla homo in the bowl game.

(3) The last time that the AFC beat the NFC in the Superbowl was NEVER but the Jets beat the Colts and the mighty Johnny U.

(4) The last time a team beat the mighty Miami with their star players being coached by Jimmy Johnson was NEVER but U.T. went to the Sugar Bowl and left with a victory.

My point is that you are right in all that you say however; there are upsets in all sports. I will say that it is unlikely for us to win; especially with Stoops not overlooking us, but I won't say that it won't happen.
Just unlikely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember when reality was winning 10 games a year. We'll get back to there at some point. We'll also beat a ranked team on the road probably this year.

A surprise win is going to happen at some point in CBJ's tenure. Why not this week or next or the following game.

Hope is a good thing; not a bad thing. This is a game and not life or death. So, if we lose then I will pull for them next week. I am not going to jump off a bridge for a loss, but I will throw one hell of party when we do.

GBO!

To the OP: you tried. And I agree with you. Unfortunately come Sunday morning this place will be falling apart; overrun by idiots questioning everything about this program. I can't help but think a lot of them will be picking us to upset the #4 team in the country. It's senseless! What people need to accept right now is that Butch and his staff have already done a lot of good things. But the program isn't "there" yet. In fact, if we should point the blame at anybody it should be the person who devised the 2014 football schedule. It's hard to show how far this program has come in 2 short years when you're playing, what, 6 teams in the Top 20? Granted I realize we're the SEC but that's exactly why it's hard to turn things around overnight. We've got a long season ahead. And I still believe Team 118 is going to surprise some ppl.

There's a difference between saying you think we lose and completely counting us out.

Reality is what has happened.

Reality is Tennessee is 2-0

Reality is Oklahoma is 2-0

Predicting what will happen we they play each other is an opinion.

I don't care what anyone says....even in losing, you can't hope to win without a winning attitude.

Dang! Are they expecting us to play on Saturday? I was just hoping to watch the game from my couch. Now, I have to get a "winning attitude" and go do some sit ups or something between now and game time.

Relax Francis, we ain't playing so it really doesn't matter what your attitude is. Sorry to burst your bubble.

:clapping:Last year USCjr rolled into Knoxville with a similar attitude as OU's....called it a good warmup for the rest of the season. After whipping a pair of dogs the first two games, the boomers are feeling really good about themselves, as well. If they've not prepared with a lot of focus and intensity, then they've not matched the regime you know Butch's got the men in orange going through this week. Which team is determined to go all out? Game prep, sports fans. For those of you hanging your hats on the reality tree, get real about who's better prepared. Remember, also, that Butch has played these guys before and with much less talent, yet only lost by a couple of points. We can win.
