It wasn't last year's recruiting class that went 5-6. Most were injured, red shirted or both. Those guys will be up for starting positions this go around.

Yes. The 2004 class is just full of the guys who thought they could come to Knoxville without having any accountability for their behavior. I think we are going to lose some of these guys as soon as Cut moves from recruiting to whip cracking.

ohh great.. WR Percy Harvin and WR Damon McDaniel both just commited to Florida.. like they needed two more stellar WR's to add to their commit list.

so that puts them at 26 players committed to date.. so i guess they will have a few players enrolling early to fit in to their already stacked recruting class. and i hope this is the end of their recruting year...

I had a feeling they would stick together and go to UF. Hey Phil maybe we should try and get some DBs?!? I only counted 17 seniors on UF's roster and I doubt if all of them were scholarship recipients so I really don't know where they are coming up with so many scholarships. Maybe some of their commimets plan to pay their own way becasue they want to play for Meyer that badly?

i agree with oklavol and volunterhillbilly. the only thing fulmer has done well in the last 5 years is recruit and now it appears he can't even do that. i've said since the middle of the season fulmer would have his worst recruiting class at tennessee and i stand by it. you can't convince kids 18 years old to buy into our offense when we looked that bad. there is noway possible to have a top 10 recruiting class this year and the other teams in the sec are reloading to whip on us for years to come. the only thing i can say is atleast we have pearl and summit and basketball, because football seems to be alost cause for awhile. unless cutcliffe can perform miracles i think we are in for another rough season. :banghead:

UF landed 2 more top flight recruits this afternoon. Rivals #1 ranked player overall & the #60 ranked player nationwide. I won't bore you with info...easily found if interested.

Yeah they both announced on ESPN news today..UF has picked up 5 of the top 12 WR's this yr...pretty impressive class so far.

UF looks to sign around 32 this yr with 4 or 5 early enrollees that will go on last yrs #'s. Thornton and Portis leaving also opens up a couple scholly's and Jackson may leave for the NFL...so Meyer is looking to sign 12 WR's.

I don't think you can bring in more than 25 on scholly in one year, right?

UF had like 74 on scholly out of the 85..you can bring in more if some go to the previous yr..I'm sure 67 can explain it better than I can!

I think you can bring in more if they count on the previous class or the next class but I am pretty sure 25 is the most you can have count against any one class. Regardless, it's a good problem to have I guess.

yeah 25 is the most you can have to count on a class...we've had two transfer already..and two may have to go to prep school due to grades..not to mention that Dickey is on a baseball scholly and Ingram is on a bball scholly.

Don't forget the infamous "GREY SHIRTING" a recruit.

Grey Shirting means a player signs, but doesn't enroll in January and counts toward the next year's allotment.

UGA and UF have topped out. I think they have a couple more slots but we'll see who's academically elligible, etc. I'm worried about Richt's recruiting class since he can show development. Meyer on the other hand hasn't done much with what he already had. it will be interesting to see if he still forces his scheme on the SEC or he adapts.

Ponder this:

The only reason most feel UM's offensive scheme won't work is typically "the SEC defenses have too much speed". Granted I feel that's a true statement, but look at all the 5 Star talented offensive players he's recruiting. All not only have great talent but all have EXCEPTIONAL speed.

Might that overcome defensive speed...comments please.

It was easy to see over this past season that defenses in the SEC are heads and shoulders above the offenses in the SEC. It will take a couple of seasons for the offenses to catch up. Football is cyclical. Eventually the offenses will catch up and there will be tons of blowouts. It's not like DBs in the league are going to stand flat footed and let UMs five star reciever parade run past them. They are gonna cover them and cover them well. When they catch the ball they will get lit up.

Possibly, but I think the main area where SEC defenses are more athletic than most is on the D lines. You can negate a lot of speed when your D-line is able to move the line of scrimmage, crush pockets and generally wreak havoc.

At least Carlos Brown did not commit to UGA.

Was that the kid who everybody thought was going to GA or SC but decided to go to Michigan?
