Heupel is calling the majority of the plays…. hard to get creative when you can’t run your basic plays. Also, I don’t want to be critical of Halzle yet, but I think we miss Golesh. I know it’s more than that, but I’m not seeing as much creativity in play selection as last year.
Patiently waiting for improvement here.
I was thinking this too. Don’t know if it cuz of Joe or our WR. We don’t bunch our wide outs and cross them as much if at all. No creativity on routes like what we saw last year. Also, I don’t want to be critical of Halzle yet, but I think we miss Golesh. I just hope we keep calling the same defensive game plan that we have since after the Florida debacle. Hopefully that finally showed them that we can’t sit back and play soft.Yeah, I think bama will sell out to stop the run and try to make Joe beat them. But the good news is we only need to hit on a few of those opportunity's. I don't think Bama will score 20 points in the game. I also think with the pressure our defense will bring we will have some chances to get some turnovers.
Agree. Heupel needs to step in. We have so many plays set up off other plays we have run over and over, and still have not seen them. I hope this is the week we start pulling them out of the bag. Also, I don’t want to be critical of Halzle yet, but I think we miss Golesh. Those are all the factors I was considering as well. Just saying it’s Heupel’s offense and it’ll be fine no matter the personnel is overly simplistic. It will be fine eventually, but we’re having to adjust for now.Excellent point. I’ve thought about posting something similar about Halzle. Milton hasn’t played well, but the WR’s are dropping balls and not consistently getting open and with Halzle 1st year being OC calling plays may have something to do with the WR’s not being open. Then again, it may be that Bru, Hyatt and Tillman were just better WR’s. The creativity of play calling has been lacking IMO.
AbsolutelyWe need to send you to Doc's indoctrination camp.
@VolsDoc81TX - Can McGill come stay with you for a while?
Golesh called the majority of plays last year, Heupel is calling plays this year. Heupel would override the play call if needed. I believe that Heupel misses Golesh in coaches box reading the D and letting Heup know.Hasn’t it been confirmed several times that Golesh/Halzle weren’t/aren’t responsible for calling plays?
it was reported that way in the beginning but last season Heupel stated that Golesh was making the calls…. Not sure if that was accurate or if he was trying to help his OC get a head coaching job. I don’t think Hazle is allowed to call the plays yet.Hasn’t it been confirmed several times that Golesh/Halzle weren’t/aren’t responsible for calling plays?
The crowd booed every time the opponent entered Neyland. That’s low class and inexcusable behavior in my opinion.
I understand the misperception of the fake injuries that have happened in the past, but it’s fairly obvious that these were real injuries…
It may have been magnified because I was on the student side, but I am not a fan.
We’re Volunteers! Not gators, bammers, or dawgs dammit.
I think it will be the week ! Thinking you have to hold back some plays for certain teams in key situations. I know that's what we're all hoping .Agree. Heupel needs to step in.
