Recruiting Football Talk VII

The best part is all the crap he got for that, so the next day's press conf he started by saying basically, "Y'all know that I always take accountability and shield the players, so you should have all assumed that context after I said all that stuff blaming the kids."

ETA quote. Man, talk about gaslighting...
I hate Beamer...but it is funny how everyone wants coaches to be honest...until it comes to their players playing like 💩 and being dumb as a bag of hammers.

Players not executing correct calls is on players. Coaches making bad calls is on coaches.

When players get paid they open themselves to an extra level of scrutiny and public commentary. Which is why coaching staffs worry about losing player motivation to do their best. We all know when they quit and mail it in. Coaches tend to keep it all in the family when things are good and go public when they are not.

A coach can use the media to call out players whose expectations and motivations are to play at the next level. They know the scouts and orgs are watching who goes 100% and plays smart. A guy who responds well to public call out by his coach will be duly noted.

But Beamer is goobering it up like we all knew he would.

So the “better” team lost to the “overrated” team?…

Define "Team"? Obviously Team to this clown is star-rankings, media opinion of coaches etc. UT's "Team" has a better Defensive Scheme, the ability to adjust the Offensive scheme to fit talent, situations, etc. , Coaches who are ball coaches and not the product of media hype, players who, even if they don't always play to the best of their ability, play hard and keep grinding.

It’s a bad bad look, I don’t care what people want from coaches.

The narrative around TN has somehow evolved into TN can only be good if we throw the ball for 400 yards and win shootouts, however, in the same breath they will say we can't sustain it because our defense sucks and we rely on the big play too much. Now that we have reversed that trend and don't rely on the big play at all, the narrative has shifted to, you can't win without the big plays and only running the football.

Now insert Alabama's name and rewind back to the summer previews, and every media member was touting how Alabama was going to go back to old school bully ball as they used to and they were just going to plow through the entirety of college football this year, and it didn't matter that their QB wasnt good because they dont need him to be.

My predictions for Tuscaloosa:

1. Loud
2. Bloodbath
3. We tear their goalposts down
4. Vols force Jermaine Burton to bend over at midfield.
5. Goalposts go into Jermaine Burton's a$$hole, which is not difficult to accomplish since it's obvious he's a huge a$$hole and he probably enjoys these type of things since he fears for his life when petite female college students get near him.

6. Pride of the Southland plays Dixieland Delight
7. Many cigars are smoked
8. We are fined lots of $$$
9. Fans start a Go Fund Me and pay the fines
10. All is right in the world
FYP.

Clearly, huh?
That Better Team now has a 4-3 record. Though, I would make a similar statement about our Florida game. The better team lost due to oddly bad coaching and a terrible o-line performance. I wouldn't call Florida at the time over rated however.

It's clear that Heupel hasn't truly earned respect as a head coach yet. Doesn't matter. The wins will speak for themselves.

Bingo

Gary absolutely hates TN and the feeling is mutual. He made the comment that they would be back for GA. It was almost like "We might have lost today, but we'll be back for GA!" He's the worst announcer in CFB. Enjoy the big whatever, loser.
I had forgotten for many years, that he was on the call with Jackson the night we won the National Championship.

I don't ask coaches to be honest. I never get on CJH for injury reports, etc... And there is a difference between telling a lie and choosing what you'll actually say.

Have you ever been in leadership? There's a general leadership principle that can roughly be equated to "Tell everybody when you do well. Tell you when you don't." There's also a leadership principle that states that the buck stops at the top. Yet another calls to keep discipline and problems within the organization. i.e. "Don't air our dirty laundry. If it has to be exposed beyond the individual level, keep it as private as possible, for as long as possible."

Combine these, and you figure that a good leader will take responsibility publicly, while also not pulling their people's pants down and spanking them in public. A good leader will mentor or discipline in private, and protect in public.

Not sure about you, but I come from the servant leader school that carries burdens while acting selflessly.

You may come from a different school, and that's OK with me.

Sounds like ESPN kept a lot of the wrong people when they did their purge.
ESPN is entertainment media. They are also click-whores. They know that UT fans are passionate, and defensive. So, they rely on the vast majority getting butt-hurt and giving them the clicks they need.

And now, here we are multiplying the links for them.
