Recruiting Football Talk VII

🤣

Tom needs to get a real job. This football thing is not what he should do unless conning people like ESPN is his talent.
It's not about football analysis. That's just the mechanism. It's about creating emotion that generates clicks, which generates money. It's little different than social media that preys on political divides. Post something that triggers anger or fear about/against "the other side". Sit back and count. Recycle endlessly.

Well, what else creates divides, anger and fear? Sports! (And who else gets angrier than VN?)

ESPN and all the rest of them are psychological warfare for nickel-millions profits.

So the “better” team lost to the “overrated” team?…

This isnt the first time I’ve heard A&M was the better team which I find surprising. It’s not like we had a fluke play that decided the game, it was ugly on both ends. We dominated on both LOS made fewer mistakes and won the special teams. If anything we should have won by more. They probably have a more talented roster but we have a better team and we have the better coaching staff.

I feel like I've heard a few times very recently myself. 😏

Ladies and Gentlemen….it’s Alabama Hate Week.

Show me what you got
Typical Alabama Fan

38 year-old grandfather of 6. He met his wife at the family reunion.

As he is making love to his 2nd cousin, aka his wife, he yells "Roll Tide Roll".

He owns 14 t-shirts, thirteen of which have to do with Alabama football and at least 10 bama jerseys.

The most important aspect of his life is that EVERYONE must know that Alabama is his favorite team at every moment of his life. He thinks about Bama football more than he thinks of sex. How do I proclaim my fandom to the world he constantly ponders? His truck, his trailer, his clothes, his pets, his tattoos, his parole papers - all of them must include a reference to his love of Bama football.

He tried out for his high school football team as a 23-year old senior and ran a 4.8 in the 40. The next day he ran a 4.2 out the back door of his granny's house because his grandpa found him "peekin' through the bathroom keyhole" at granny.

While shopping at the Piggly Wiggly he hears the song "Dixie Land Delight" over the store speakers. He immediately stands at attention with his hand over his heart. At the end of the song, he instinctively yells "Roll Tide". Little does he know that this song is about Tennessee.

He attends Alabama First Church of Christ (Bless him). When the offering is passed around each Sunday, there is an offering plate for the Lord, and a separate offering plate for "Nick Saban" to help next recruiting cycle. "Roll Tide".

He can't add or subtract; but they sure can multiply when it comes to National championships and first cousins.

Fully half of all Bama fans have a dog, cat or more likely a son or daughter named Bear or Bryant. In 10 years you will see a bunch of 8-9 year olds named Tua running around. Now you will understand why.

Little known fact: the toothbrush was invented in Alabama. If it had been invented in Tennessee, it would have been called to teethbrush. btw - there are 5 million people in the state of Alabama, and zero dentist offices.

I don't ask coaches to be honest. I never get on CJH for injury reports, etc... And there is a difference between telling a lie and choosing what you'll actually say.

Have you ever been in leadership? There's a general leadership principle that can roughly be equated to "Tell everybody when you do well. Tell you when you don't." There's also a leadership principle that states that the buck stops at the top. Yet another calls to keep discipline and problems within the organization. i.e. "Don't air our dirty laundry. If it has to be exposed beyond the individual level, keep it as private as possible, for as long as possible."

Combine these, and you figure that a good leader will take responsibility publicly, while also not pulling their people's pants down and spanking them in public. A good leader will mentor or discipline in private, and protect in public.

Not sure about you, but I come from the servant leader school that carries burdens while acting selflessly.

You may come from a different school, and that's OK with me.
Praise in public, correct in private.

I hate Beamer...but it is funny how everyone wants coaches to be honest...until it comes to their players playing like 💩 and being dumb as a bag of hammers.

Players not executing correct calls is on players. Coaches making bad calls is on coaches.

I think it’s about delivery. His delivery is sh*t

The homeowner doesn’t want to hear from the contractor that the laborers are responsible for their terrible kitchen reno. “If only they had followed my instructions!”

Likewise, no one wants to hear from the head coach that the players are responsible for the team’s failures (even when it’s true).
