We played like ****. No way to spin it otherwise. Offense has taken a step back. Maybe things click over the next few games. Maybe they don’t. Defense is better though. Before the last 2 drives with backups mixed in they had only given up 175 yards and 6 points. Last year the offense carried the team. This year the defense will have to hold their weight the way things look on offense currently.

The real alarming thing to me has been the slow starts… huepel’s first two seasons we started fast and played great the first quarter/half no matter who we played


This happened in 2016 as well… 2015 we always started the games great and then choked… 2016 we always started games terrible

That's not true. If you'll remember we started slow most of last year. People kept saying we started fast but we never did. I think people were mislead by big opening drives/opening splash plays but overall we were slow in the 1Q and often 1st half of games.
