I feel you that it's different than a guy sucker punching someone because it's mid play. The precedent for someone to be charged for something they did in a sporting event is there though, at least somewhat related to this. Hockey is inherently violent but I've personally never seen someone kick a sharp skate at someones' neck/head intentionally, mid game or not. It probably has happened, just saying it's at least rare. When the sport requires you to wear sharp objects on your feet that can cut someone, I believe it's against the law and rules to use them intentionally to maim someone, mid game or not. I'd equate it to a football or soccer player forcefully stomping a players head with cleats and the player dies. Both could be considered violent sports but that's totally out of context of the play. Sure, he attempted to make it look like an accident, and proving the intent to injure may be difficult. I'm pretty sure this will go in front of a judge to make that call though. So, we'll see.
I see a player using his leg to stop the body of another player. I don’t see a player aiming to kick another player in the head with his skate.

I’m sure this has already been posted, but this is just hilarious. This Michigan scandal HAS to be a blockbuster movie one day. We’ve got a guy with an 80’s pornstar name going undercover to steal signs on sidelines where he isn’t supposed to be. I’m addicted.

I just fear that they are going to suppress the angle that involves our game. That was really the most overthetop moment. Providing stolen signs to outsiders to influence the playoff picture. I think that is too big for CFP to permit it to be covered.

A prior poster made a good point. This could wind up as a CBS game, because it would make it likely 4 consecutive weeks that Georgia will play on the network and they’ve already played 2 prior games this season.

I’d rather deal with Gary and get an afternoon game rather than listen to Jordan Rodgers in the cold for a 6:30 SECN game.
This. Would think brighter/warmer time of day plays to our favor on the field. That’s what I’m hoping for.

@Jack Burton informs me that these things vary by state and that I was wrong to say "(in the US, by comparison)" and then specify anything at all. 😂

It will depend on the law there, as we know. But in some states here unintentional death can be classified as second degree murder, and there are places where negligent homicide and involuntary manslaughter is on the books. But reckless homicide, as you mention, would do it.

Second-degree murder is typically murder with malicious intent but not premeditated. Where it would be applicable would be jurisdictions where the mens rea of the defendant is: not restricted to intent to kill, but encompasses intent to inflict serious bodily harm, or act with an abandoned heart (e.g., reckless conduct lacking concern for human life or having a high risk of death).

But you and Jack are correct that I should not have added my overgeneralized statement.

Ok, nice gentlemen of VN..I need some recommendations for a good scary movie tonight.🎃👻🕸️🕷️
Evil dead rise was pretty good. So was Us. Also Talk to Me. The fear street series. Parasite. Voyuers.

But I also like the classics: Friday the 13th, Halloween, nightmare on elm street, final destination, the ring, the shining, silence of the lambs, exorcist, TCM, etc

And I’m sure there’s so many more.

I can already envision what will happen during the Georgia game if we continue to get screwed by the refs. What happened in the Ole Miss game will be mild compared to it.
Banks starting blitzing like hell at the end of the third through the fourth. I think he said I’m tired of watching my guys get mauled and we’re going to put some hurt on people.

There is no scenario in which I could imagine a batter striking a defensive player in baseball being part of a play (unless the catcher was crowding the plate and incidentally got struck during a swing on a pitch). Such a scenario would only every play out in a fight, in which case the use of a bat would clearly be a weapon used outside of the game to commit an assault.

After watching the video (which is really grainy), I'm left much more uncertain about the Adam Johnson play. it does not look like an intentional kick to me. Could it be? Sure. But it's far from clear. It's right in the middle of a play, Petgrave is coming in full speed, he gets hit and knocked off balance by a third player, he's turned sideways, he's falling at the time, and his foot goes up in the air while his knee is fully bent down towards the ground (which on it's own is far from a normal kicking motion). So, in total, it's as clear as mud to me what Petgrave's intentions were. That's all I can say. For those reasons, I would be shocked if he got charged and a good defense attorney would run circles around the prosecution at trial.
Striking someone with your bat would not be part of a play. It would be an intentional act.
Just like trying to kick someone in the neck with your skate is an intentional act.

Both are egregious acts, well outside the rules of play.

Not sure how you watch the video and conclude he wasn’t trying to kick Adam Johnson. Unless that’s simply what you want to see.

The dirtiest player in hockey just lost his balance, and accidentally put his skate in someone’s neck.

Is there a way for us to capture clips when rewatching our games? @drylo @TN-POSSUM @ everybody!

We should be amassing a complete video record (insofar as we can with TV footage alone) of what the SEC office and its crews have done to us this year.

For example,
Rewatching the game. It’s comical some holds called on us and none on them. A few times we had a run blitz that was perfect and every guy breaking through is turned around or held for no call. Third quarter was especially bad. They can’t be that inept without it being purposeful.
