I mean, I expect teams to compete for championships. When you're pre season top 10, and you are picked to win the league and you win nothing, it's pretty disappointing.View attachment 592210
I've concluded over the years of reading your posts you don't know much about Tennessee football or basketball history. If we win 25 games, that will be one of the 10 best seasons we have ever had in 116 seasons of playing the sport... Also, Rick Barnes has produced most of our really good seasons.

Yes he was, but besides Bruce’s short time, Vols basketball has never been relevant in my short life until Rick.In all fairness he was a HOF coach before he arrived here we can’t keep doing this.he earned it on his own through 500 years of coaching..now he’s solidifying it here.
Just making the dance isn't competing for a championship, making runs is.But we do? Basketball just isn't football. It's wide open in March and if you're in the dance you're competing for the championship. No one would hate on Heupel if he made 5 playoffs in 8 seasons.
No my point is, I believe with competent leadership and actual support, a good AD can find another coach who can accomplish what Barnes has done.
That's why I call for him getting fired, I want DW to prove to you all that there are other coaches out there that can do what Barnes has done with competent leadership.
It wasn’t a mistake to let Fulmer go…. It was a mistake to let mike Hamilton hire his replacement…. This administration is the number one reason we are good in almost all sports…. we will carry on when Barnes leaves. This was the exact argument we all used to oust Fulmer, biggest difference was (obviously) that Fulmer seemed to lose a step towards the end of his career. However, it's NEVER as easy as "having competent leadership" to replace the accomplishments of a successful, tenured head coach--in any sport.
Barnes' lack of success in the post-season is well documented and, at times, extremely frustrating but he has built a culture within the basketball program that has only been matched by Pearl and Mears. Like the football program Post-Fulmer, I think anyone we might try to replace him with would have a monumental task of even living up to the success Barnes has had. Barnes can retire here, imo.

Agreed on all points, but that wasn't my point--just pointing out that it's taken the better part of two decades to match the success and recover from ousting him in favor of Kiffin, Dooley, Butch, and JP.It wasn’t a mistake to let Fulmer go…. This looks like best team Barnes has had here, we just beat a top 5 team on the road without two of our best players, the season hasn’t even started yet, and people in here are already fahrin’ Barnes.
Just another day in paradise!

And yeah if Heupel made the playoffs and got bounced early by a lower ranked teams 3 times and then made the last 4( I go 4 here because the playoffs are smaller) people would be ready to find someone who can get over the hump.
It's not a matter of walking on water, checkerb. Don't make this something that it's not.I dont care what he's waiting on, but apparently most of this board gets butthurt because I don't think he walks on water.
