It is, if you're not in the dance you have 0% chance of winning the championship. Baseball AND Basketball you HAVE TO MAKE THE DANCE to compete...that's how tournaments work.

It's one thing to troll, but do you really want to continue to look like an idiot while doing it?

I mean you're basically the biggest fair weather fan around and the worst part is you're pretty ignorant about basketball in general so you drag your over the top expectations into basketball with a football mindset. Only one game counts more than the rest in basketball, the last one you play in March, but you have to make the dance still for that to be the case.
There are 68 teams that make the dance. Would you call every team that makes it good?

I like Barnes. I don't think anyone could have done any better post BP. It is true his teams seem to struggle in the tournament, but to me it's usually been because the players fail to execute and score points for long periods of time. I guess you can still blame the coach for it, but at the end of the day if you miss all shots for 10 minutes you're going to struggle against good teams no matter who the coach is. On a positive note that Knecht guy is really good at scoring. Great addition. Also, Gainey so far has proven to be a good shooter, so I feel better about our chances this year. We have a really solid team.
We also ran into two Loyola and FAU who miraculously made the final 4.

It's not a matter of walking on water, checkerb. Don't make this something that it's not.

I think Barnes will get some much better finishes in 'AA, and that will set us up splendidly for his successor one day. Discarding him, not only is unmerited, imo, but would be massively imprudent with respect to landing whomever would be best that he will one day be replaced by. We would look, imo, like a toxic culture.

I normally might go off, but, instead, I think I should meet you halfway and counsel patience at the worst in the near term and a huge upside if this ends the way a lot of us think it will. We want to celebrate Barnes and have the whole sport celebrate him when he decides to retire. I think that's smart.
That's why you don't outright fire him. You make a backroom deal he "retires" then I'm a year if he still wants to coach he gets another job.

Just lost 31 pounds in 6 weeks the old fashioned way...just completely cut carbs out of my diet.
I have done that. "Carbs" taken in the usual sense of starchy carbs. When people say "but you need carbs," I always remind them that no- or low-starch vegetables are still carbs. Just smarter ones.

If he might be a reluctant mind with respect to the portal (that has been alleged, but idk if it's true), I think we all have to admit he has certainly adjusted quickly and is flat rocking the portal!

I think his best days are still ahead.

If we win a natty one day in basketball after Barnes retires, I’m giving credit to Barnes for that natty.

Barnes to the men’s team is what Summit was to women’s basketball team. (for me)

Yes I’m sure I’ll have multiple adults come at me with their feelings hurt

Yes he was, but besides Bruce’s short time, Vols basketball has never been relevant in my short life until Rick.

Hell I remember being excited seeing Buzz Peterson (awful) in the high school stands in my hometown when he came to watch Tyler Smith beat the hell out of our high school

Ehh Bruce got Pat to sing that told me all I needed to know about his impact on the sport at this university…women and men’s basketball was linked together as far as winning and recruiting..

Pat thought the world of Bruce and that was enough for me…if you want to bring up good times then let’s talk about the news paper articles that dropped at midnight when Bruce beat a Memphis team that had Derick rose…we talk about “shocking the world” all of the time on here but Bruce was actually about that s**t 😭😂

Bruce will always have a place in my heart..hopefully one day he finds his way home.regardless of all the negative things said about him on here..he also did a lot that no other coaches have done.true players coach “body paint” etc.

Can't believe we are still b*tching about a Hall of Fame head coach putting us through the best period of basketball success in school history, with probably the deepest team we've ever had, who just upset #4 on the road in an exhibition without two starters.

Ffs, just enjoy watching him ride off in the sunset and cheer on our Vols along the way. Stop being such bitter babies.
Just Legion of the Miserable taking out their frustration and discontentment with their own lives out on everyone else. But bitching and moaning about the most successful and consistent basketball coach we've ever had is a weird choice. But the Legion of the Miserable isn't rational.

No, but every team that makes it is competing for the championship.

Good is subjective, but in NCAA basketball "competing for a championship" is objective and there is one requirement... MAKE THE TOURNAMENT.

Bruce had the most loaded roster in our basketball history with three 5 stars on the court D Crews, R. Smith, JP Prince coupled with two amazing players he inherited in Julian Smith and Chris Lofton. He also had Tyler Smith, Wayne Chism, and Cam Tatum on that team. We won the SEC and lost in the Sweet 16.

Tell me how Barnes turning Admiral, Grant, Bone, Turner, and Alexander wasn’t one of the best coaching jobs at UT ever. How many stars did those players have next to their recruiting profiles? I think all were 3 stars except Alexander.
That team was impossible not to love, in addition.

No real reason for asking, but how did they mana... I mean, that must be terrible! How did that happen?
Same thing happened to me before the system change. Basketball forum content wouldn’t even show up. I got into it with a Tyndall conspiracy theorist and wouldn’t let up. I behave now. 😏

That's my point though, look at pre season rankings. Yes they are a bit subjective or even seed lines. If you're a 2 seed and lose to a 15 that's not a good season. If you're an 11 be happy you made the tournament. A pre season top 10 team should make an EE or better run every once in a while, A S16 should be the floor. I don't consider just making the tournament playing for a championship when teams like Colgate and Wofford make it

It's a fancy feature the mods have on here.
See when you get in trouble on here they'll either IP ban/timeout you where you can't see the rest of the board, or they can take away your posting privileges. So, I can read that forum but I can't post over there.

I ssuspect you're talking low-GI diet, which isn't low carb. It's slow-carb. I think he's talking more keto, which is almost complete lack of carbss (like ~25/day net carbs).

And no, most people don't really need more carbs than that. The body converts fats to ketones, which are burned as fuel in place of carbs. Most people would benefit greatly from this--from brain clarity to lower bodily inflamation.

So, are you working your way through VN one subforum at a time?

I don't think you know what your point is with how many times you've changed the discussion point because you're unable to counter the response.

Under Barnes
Year 1 & 2 Unranked and finished unranked
Year 3 Unranked and finished 13th
Year 4 Preseason ranked 6, finished 6th
Year 5 Unranked, finished Unranked
Year 6 Preseason ranked 12, finished Unranked
Year 7 Preseason ranked 18, finished 5
Year 8 Preseason ranked 11, finished 20

So they only finished worse in 2 of his 8 seasons so even by this idiotic point you're making he's been more successful than Pearl who finished 3 seasons worse than his preseason rankings.
