To say that the refs had no impact on the game or the last few games is disingenuous at best.

These are not mutually exclusive:

1) The lack of holding calls negates the strength of our defense.

2) Our linebacker play today was atrocious. Especially #44.

3) We are terrible at zone defense, yet Banks keeps calling it.

4) Milton significantly hampers what Heupel can call on offense.

5) Mizzou had a great gameplan on defense to sellout on the run and force Milton to beat them.

6) Heupel teams struggle on the road more than they should. USCjr game should be thrown out given the Michigan scandal and overwhelming evidence of Michigan/USCjr working together on the UT and Clemson games.

Why we as a fanbase attack fellow posters who post about one of the above as either being the exclusive reason or mutually exclusive to others really shows the lack of intelligence within our fanbase.
Not sure MO sold out for the run. They sold out for the deep ball. Looked like most of the time we had favorable numbers in the run game and just couldn’t produce.

Noticed another trend. When the Vols lose they don’t just lose they lose bigly…
13 and 14 are bigly?

All 3 losses this year we were driving in Q4 to cut it to a 1 score game and some whack *** play happened ended things. Even multiple times vs UF

Doubtful. The good in me wants to think our injuries at LB were a major part of the struggles today. The bad in me thinks we may be screwed with the current D staff for the future. The talent is finally there, even if young. Time to scheme em up.
The negative part of me is concerned why we trot herring out there repeatedly. He’s bad, he’s been bad, it doesn’t appear he’s gotten better through the year

I agree that criticism is warranted and clearly there is room for improvement.

I just think it’s disingenuous for people to act like an 8-4 season is a giant backslide while they’re ignoring the work and progress it took to make it a bad season considering where we were 3 years ago. You can’t have it both ways ya know?
Yes and no........ Think about what we lose, what worked for us this year and what didn't..... And what we have coming in for next year.

Any way you crack it there are holes and uncertainties for the roster going into next season. O line, interior D line and pass rush depth are concerns, as well as TE .

I don't see us taking a step forward next year. Going to be about the same IMO

Stop. There were multiple missed facemasks against us in the TAMU game and today. I was at Bama or I’m sure I’d have some missed from that one. The refs haven’t done us any major favors, but to put the loss today or in Tuscaloosa at their feet is simply embarrassing on our fan bases part.
Not to mention that the refs are always targeted in losses, always. I do have an issue with lack of holding calls but our poor performance has caused our losses.

Fair enough. I truly do think we’re thin at LB with Carter and Pilli out. That said, it’s fully on the staff to adjust and find a way to not let an average rushing attack run all over our defense.

It's almost as if you didn't read the post.

The entire point of the post was to expressly point out that while officiating wasn't an exclusive cause, it was/has been a factor among many obvious others.

Pointing to a factor at the exclusion of other obvious causes is disingenuous. Unfortunately, there is a lot of that happening in this thread tonight on all sides.

Media hacks piping in with Heupel complaints. Figures. Idiots have learned nothing from changing coaches every 3 or 4 years since the Fullmer days. Heupel will fix Heupel. Beat LSU like a drum on the road last year. Kentucky this year. Not sure all of that is accurate. He will make adjustments to the staff if needed. Finding the next flavor of the month ain't the answer. Continuity at the top of the program is critical. One thing I would like to see (just a personal preference) is the DC on the sideline and not in the box. Believe they are more hands on when that happens. Another thing to keep in mind, if you fire someone who are you going to get that's an upgrade?
People don't worry about who to hire. That just say throw the bank at some wildly unrealistic coach and pat themselves on the back because they done fixed everything with somebody else's money.
