I hope you're right.... The one thing that worries me about Heupel recruiting is the meat on the offense was better under Pruitt, although Heup did more with them he just hasn't been able to replace/recruit high quality linemen. Been struggling on the interior of the d line as well.Probably going to end up inside top 10 after Heupel's tenure. He can get us to 10+ win seasons pretty regularly I believe. Especially reaching the playoffs and playing those extra games. people forget we still have some of pruitts players on our roster, and not the higher rated guys that left. Our best football with Heupel is ahead of us.
I think it goes back to loyalty, those guys stayed and played their hearts out for him in year one. We have talent, just freshman talent. Lets just hope it grows up fast. I feel like the OL recruiting is going fine but I agree on interior DL. That is a bit of a worry right now.I hope you're right.... What does it say of Heups recruiting if the guys he's bringing in don't beat out lesser quality leftovers from the Pruitt era?
I'm just playing devil's advocate with your statement.
Sure. But he made the comment in the context of a conversation about this season.Agree.. If what I have heard is correct, an 8 game conference schedule continuing even with Texas and Oklahoma joining next year, and it remains 8 conference games, is an advantage for the Vols. Under that scenario, 9-3 is a good baseline and not 8-4 for a 12 game regular season. Now, if I'm wrong, and it's a 9 game conference schedule, then @Revived2002 has more of an argument for 8-4 being the baseline. Not playing Bama, Gators, and Dawgs annually is going to be more of an advantage than what I believe some realize at this time.
Don't get me wrong, @85SugarVol, I wouldn't be happy with 8-4 in most seasons, like 90% of the time, it would just be, blah... This season, we had 9-3 right there in front of us, but we got our tails whipped by a motivated Missouri team, very disappointing.Sure. We looked like a team that didn't deserve to be on the same field with a good..... Not great Missouri team....... That shouldn't happen. But it did, I suspect this team is extremely beat up right now, this is gut check time. While I don't think we can beat Georgia we have to put together an effort and at least look like a team that can answer the bell and play with them.I can handle losing a competitive game.
Today was a different story. We looked like Vandy
