Curious who is on the short list of DCs if somebody comes calling for Banks…. Do we just promote Garner?

I’d love to go after Gary Patterson but I know he stepped away from Texas for personal reasons

I've already moved on to basketball season. Next week will be a blood letting. I'll watch some of the Vandy game because it's senior day. Maybe watch the bowl, no way I'm attending. Look forward to the new vols and the Nico era begins with a new DC hopefully.

Watching a lot of other rivalry games, we need trophies for ours.
The cigar is fine for Bama, but we need something for Florida and UK, I know we used to have the beer barrel and they got rid of it but surely they could come up with something new.

That one, I think, would have to go to Oklahoma state. Even as bad as Tennessee looked today.

We all knew we were taking a step back this year.... That said our best win was ATM, which isn't as good as we'd have thought coming into the season. Worst loss was Florida, which is as bad as we thought a loss to Florida would be going into the season.

After all is said and done we are about where I thought we'd be. Last season we blew expectations away had the huge letdown that ended our playoff hopes. This year we similarly missed an opportunity.

Just get it together and play with Georgia, see what happens and maybe steal one at home. Win or lose we must answer the bell at home against Georgia or risk losing ground.

Offensive line played terrible and next year doesn’t look much better without a ton of help in the portal.

Nico at QB won’t help if the receivers are sub par. No depth there. We need some major help in the portal there.

Secondary and Linebackers and the depth there still not where it needs to compete consistently with SEC.

May be in the minority here, but I think we will come out and play them close. Heupel teams have been very good off disappointing losses here and coming back home to a wild environment should help.

There was more on the line for sure but this was much worse. We couldn't do anything on either side of the ball tonight. We didn't even belong on the same field.

Go find the best one and pay him whatever he wants lol. Garner is a good Dline coach but we need a proven DC

This is a fireable performance by Tim Banks. I honestly do not give a rat’s ass what recruits it could cost us. Nearly 350 yards by their RB. Can’t get a 3rd down stop to save our lives. Can’t tackle.

It’s Year 3 and outside of the defensive line no other unit on this defense has improved. I’m done.

Tennessee’s loss stunk, but hats off to Missouri - they are a legitimately good team. Okie State got manhandled by a .500 team.

Here is my only request for the rest of the season. I know it won’t happen, but one can dream. Keep Joe in there to get blasted by Georgia next week and protect Nico, let Joe have one series on senior day as a thank you, then please for the love of god just let Nico play the rest of the Vandy game.

There is just no excuse with this season being over to not let Nico play against Vandy and the bowl game. He would still retain his redshirt and get valuable reps for next year.

Not sure I like that, what if Nico gets an ACL? Which would be so "Tennessee".

-Keep stacking recruiting class
-Hit the portal hard
-Nico will get the mojo back on the offense in 2024

Mizzou whipped us today no doubt, Heupel still will have the two best seasons in the last 16 years in only 3 years here. Banks has to figure something out, we still need a talent upgrade at most spots on defense but we are so hot and cold on D. Still clawing our way out of the gutter that has been the last 20 years. Heupel can get us there.

A voice of reason! Well said. We are all frustrated after that egg yesterday, but this is what needs to be happen. We had better come out and play more physical against Georgia than we did yesterday. Have aggressive game plans on both sides of the ball, and play to win. Let the chips fall where they may. Best Vandy by 50, then win the bowl game. That’s a 10 and 9 win season in back to back years. That will keep the momentum going.

One last thing, PLEASE DO NOT SELL YOUR TICKETS TO GEORGIA FANS THIS WEEK. I will puke if it’s 60-40 split and they take over our stadium.

For real? We need to upgrade and get an aggressive DC whether we are at home or on the road. Have you heard any names?

Heupel basically said at halftime and in post-game that Missouri surprised them with their “defensive structure”. I’ve noticed the 3 teams who have handled our run game played 3 down linemen, all between the tackles, with one over the center.

Plug up our run game between the tackles and we are in trouble.

We are in trouble because every single time we run to the outside, we get called for holding. Heupel has his hands tied because of the refs and how they call our games.

I am not trying to say refs are why we lost today. Just saying it’s frustrating for players to deal with and then you get down on the road and the fight leaves you. If we are going nuts, how do you think the players feel? CJH said afterwards he felt we didn’t keep fighting till the end today. With all the injuries and having to fight bias and how tough it makes it, folks tend to throw in the towel. Hard to think 40 plus guys will be able to keep it together. Then things roll downhill. I don’t know what will make it change because I thought maybe just trying to get Ga and gumps in playoffs. This seems like we are being punished and if that’s it like some of us including LA VOL have heard, do we ever have a chance?

Keep saying it louder!! We are being punished. The coaches and the team know it! They are growing weary fighting it every single game on the road and at home. It finally came to a head yesterday. We have been playing through it with success all year. We have to have been told that we had better stay quiet all year about it, or it will extend into next year. If this is so, I am baffled how you can punish 18-22 yr old young men like this.
