Recruiting Football Talk VII

Mookie pointed out the disaster behind it, but my issue is once again it's just hurting the fans pockets, at some point this money needs to come from the schools.
For the record, I hate the idea.

But something the school/collective or Boosters could do is match or double any money sent during the game as they say it will be tracked.

So you get fan donation and then matched by the big $$$

But I hate the idea so it will probably happen.

What a fitting gif. 🤣🤣

College football really sucks now, doesn’t it? What a putrid idea.

Putrid indeed. Good lord. College football is too entertaining and fun to say I'd just walk away but I'd be trending out the door if I see players' venmos pop up on my screen because they made a play. Do I send them a venmo request if they screw up?

"Nice throw Joe, here's a fiver."
"Pick 6...give me my $5 back plus interest."

Would be better to put Spyre's venmo up in the 4th qtr after we're beating the piss out of someone.

Hahaha, that's not the worst I've ever heard.

I just wish it would just go ahead and jump to a minor league system, for the teams at the top at least. Set a salary cap, allow teams to sign kids to contracts between 1-5 years.
The big schools are going to get the talent anyways. Lower schools can choose to play the game or not, and if they can't afford it there will still be kids to choose from they just won't get the cream of the crop as they are now. Then at the top it evens things out and creates a level playing field.

Sounds like a version of “Thunderdome”!

Seaton-- wants big bag
Wells-- wants big bag
Nolan-- wants big bag
probably 3-4 more we are potentially on --- want a big bag

Everyone says our NIL Collective is one of the best in the country.

We've already missed on several key guys this recruiting cycle because they apparently wanted too big of a bag than we were able or wanted to give them.

If we miss on Seaton and Wells, then folks need stop with the "we don't overpay" and "our NIL is one of the best" crap. We don't have the funds.

Only other excuse to give is "we have the funds, we just don't want to use them on those kids/positions"... okay, then we will go with what we've got. BUT, next season when other schools have chosen to hand over those "bags" and upgraded with day 1 difference makers and this staff has chosen to roll with what they got, then this staff has ZERO excuses when and if we get out-performed on the field and take some L's. Can't have it both ways.

If you can't do it at Miami, how would you do it at Duke?

It's like Muschamp going from Florida to south Carolina. Same conference, harder job.

Duke is a stepping stone program. I don't think this a bad hire for Duke at all. South Carolina same thing. I complain when Heupel doesn't win 10 games but if I take a step back I'm happy with the season. JMO but there's 4 coaches that are a sure thing to get top results and 2 of them aren't leaving their current job, 1 isn't coaching right now, and the other you probably won't get unless he gets canned for cheating. Ohio State should realllly take a look around talking about firing a coach winning 11 games every year.

I hope they fahr Day and roll around in sub-mediocrity for the next 3 decades.

We also have basically no one on our roster that we want to keep trying to leave. NIL isn't just for going out to buy new players, but also to keep the current roster happy. I'm not gonna complain about retaining our full roster, getting a top 7 class, and making a decent splash in the portal.

Yuppppppp.

I tasted winning again for the first time again, and that’s why I am the way I am, I want to continue the success we’ve been having. There’s a lot of good players in the portal that could help this team (I’m sure there will be more) but we don’t seem to be going after many.

Wells, Paul, Lee, Fadil, etc all players that would elevate this team next year. It’s confusing, but they get the benefit of the doubt since they continue to win. I’ll continue to complain, and hopefully continue to be proven wrong.

I get why we don’t, like many have said, have to keep the young ones happy as well.

I kinda thought that. Individual players...hell no. If they take donations/tips or something after the game for the entire team that's cool. Poor o linemen would never see a nickel despite being a major reason in win/loss lol.

I wouldn't mind that at all. Unfortunately their leadership tends to excel at making sure that doesn't happen.

Holding out hope that with the infusion of talent into the conference (Oregon/USC/Washington) they actually have to play more than 2 ranked games per year. The BIG has been a cakewalk for OSwho and Mich for far too long.

I think just because they're a good collective doesn't mean they are the wealthiest.
