I don’t think people realizing it or not realizing it makes any difference.

I think Heupel needs to realize you win in this league with elite players, and I think he needs to learn how to attack the portal, but he’s not gonna learn that from VolNation.com.
You’d think after seeing who’s winning national championships and kicking his head in every year he’d really get a front row view of how it’s done and realize it

We seriously need to hit the portal hard, but sadly, we won't. Heupel has a stubborn streak in him not unlike Fulmer did as a coach.
There is absolutely zero evidence this is remotely true. We’ve hit the portal hard every year he has been here and landed some very important pieces.

Y’all are crazy if you think the staff didn’t know Echols was about to flip. It had nothing to do with telling Joly to kick rocks.

Yeah we’re all good I was just discussing it. There are other TE’s in the portal that are being offered by legit programs. Joly’s best after UT is either NC St, AZ St, MS St.

Just wondering why some here think he’s one of the best in the portal? Not even saying he isn’t. But we look at offers for HS kids and question their skill based on offers. Why not the same here?

Not singling you out either. I keep asking everyone who posts about him. No one ever answers.
He was top 5 in the nation in receiving yards for his position this past year. This on an inept UConn team that didn't have much success against P5 teams. The other players we have offered do not have half the yards as him.

Good heavens some poster used the Butch Jones was a better recruiter card ...

In the thread about is Heupel a good recruiter...😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
It’s amazing the recruiting points you can rack up when you have about 42 commits in a class and don’t care if they can actually play football well as long as recruiting analysts give them stars.

Fell to 14th on 247 and 13th on On3. Hope we don't lose anymore. We need some last-minute miracle flips of serious talent.

All these coaches think that they can do it their own way. The really good ones are the ones that figure out the truth before its too late.

Take Spurrier. He thought he could outscore people and win championships his way until he got ran over by Tom Osborne in 95. So he went and got Bob Stoops and the rest is history.

But much better programs want those other players. What does that tell you?

So is the new TE coach just really bad at recruiting TEs? If we knew it was coming, just seems he would have some better talent on the board.

The head coach has to be a good closer.
I think he is for the right recruits and family. Especially the mature ones. I think he lacks that no scruples demeanor. The kind that will do whatever is needed to land a guy. I don't think a head coach has to be that guy, but most great recruiting teams have one.
