Recruiting Football Talk VII

There are plenty of dumb talking heads of all skin colors. But you're right in general.

I guess the weirdest thing to me is just that a guy whose been outta the league almost a decade that almost everyone has forgotten about popped up with that and is getting so much run in the headlines from it.

Cause believe me, if he hadn't been on the Steelers that guy wouldn't have lasted at all. During that era they just put anyone in the backfield and they hit 1k rushing.

Willie Parker for 3 straight seasons until he got hurt then got replaced by Rashard Mendenhall who went for 900+ 3 straight seasons then got hurt and then they drafted Le'Veon Bell and he got 3 seasons of 1200+ before he threw away his career over a contract dispute.

Man I'm so annoyed by the Vikings HC.

Dobbs comes in off the street at you go 2-2 and you lose those 2 by a total of 6 points combined he technically started against Raiders and they won, but not even counting that game. Then he sits him.

Meanwhile before he went down Cousins was 4-4. And Mullens is now 1-1 (although Dobbs started the Raiders game) but going to keep riding with him because he's been with the team longer I guess.

The Vikings OL is terrrrrible that's really why they've lost 7. 14 games played and you've had to start 3 different QBs and have only produce a 100 yard rusher once. On paper 35 sacks doesn't look bad, but how many were avoided by Dobbs' legs?

They are 8th in the league in sacks given up over the last 3 games, QB play is not the issue (excluding the Bears' game...)
Dobbs was pretty loose with the football. This guy may be simply trying to lower the number of variables he is juggling. Love Dobbs, but his play style is a double edged sword.

The larger point of that asinine tweet is being ignored. You don't need to be good at a sport to analyze it or coach it. Most of the best coaches ever were not good at their sport. A high school qb can tell you a hundred things that Trevor Lawrence did wrong in his last game, and he right about all of them. Just because he wasn't born with genes that allow him to be a pro athlete doesn't mean he can't analyze players of a sport.
I am of the opinion that great players often do not make great coaches. They expect all players to perform at the same level as they did themselves and that is typically not going to happen.

I'm still thinking Missouri just had the same sort of good fortunate as Iowa this year.

The roster this year has:

11 graduate players including both RBs Cody Schrader & Nathaniel Peat
15 senior players including Theo Wease

According to ourlads depth chart they have 3 RS-Senior starters on OL, 1 RS-Senior WR, 2 RS-Senior RBs, 1 RS-Senior TE and Brady Cook has been there 4 years as a RS-Junior

On defense 3 of their 4 DL starters are Seniors or graduates, 3 of the 4 LBs, 5 of their 10 secondary players (starters and backup).

No clue how many have eligibility left, but that's a total of 18 of their players in the 2 deep that could all be gone.

Guys im not ready for Mizzou and drinkowitz to become good in the sec. I want to dismiss them so bad as a fluke year but they are recruiting really well and they have an insanely easy schedule next year.

It really makes zero sense. QF, their school is literally nothing more than a CC campus environment. Coach has the charisma of a turd.

Just shows how NIL is most important thing in CFB.

Their schedule is pretty soft next year too.
They'll have another decent year, but I wouldn't exactly call them good just fortunate.

And typically great players had a lot of natural ability and didn't have to focus as much on fundamentals, while everyone else has success mostly due to fundamentals.

@ATC_VOL - wild story in the WSJ today about the national shortage of air traffic controllers. Had no idea you guys were stretched as thin as you are.

Almost everyone in my area has over 200 hours of OT, probably ten of which are over 300. Half the year, 6 day work weeks are almost mandatory and you’re often held 1-2 hours each shift. I would’ve never thought I’d complain about the pay when I took the job, but it isn’t nearly enough for all the time I’m expected to be at work and the weird schedule we have. Meanwhile, airlines are getting 40% raises and don’t work half as hard. I’m salty haha.

Isn't there a national union? I'm fairly anti union, but this seems like one of the rare instances they could be useful.

Their NIL isn't that great. Mizzou has the easiest route to the playoff of any SEC school, and they're returning a top QB. That's what they're selling, an easy route to tie playoff. They already did it this year, so it's easy for kids to buy in they can do it again.

That is wild. Don’t blame you for being salty, and really appreciate what you guys do.

Battle for easiest route next year between Ole Miss and Mizzou
