Ok what are our expectations next year. I'm thinking something similar to this year being likely.

That being said in order to get better we are going to have to get better....... Starts with recruiting, a lot of whiffs to end the cycle. Maybe we can turn one that will really help us before NSD.

Hopefully a good young QB behind an established offensive line can overcome our unproven young wr corp and new faces running the ball.

Completely new, young, inexperienced DB group with what should be a solid d line and experienced young linebackers will be key as well. Think we going to see growing pains on both sides of the ball.

And still dead center middle of the pack in the conference. That’s his point. It’s good, but it’s not good enough.
10th in the country average ranking, will shoot up if we cant steal 5 star DT from A&M. I'll take that every year with elite QB play that's a title contender. And at least playoff berth

It is. It makes the regular season kind of meaningless.
There are a ton of playoff implication games going on right now. It's far, far from meaningless.

As opposed to college football where 95+% of teams are eliminated from playoff contention before the halfway point, and 99% of games the back half of the season have zero impact on who makes the playoffs. When only 8ish teams are even in contention, how is the regular season meaningful?

There's a far, far higher percentage of meaningful, playoff implication games in the NFL than there are in college.

Jeez I hate the Idiot Margin..."Heupel stupid af for way he handled Nico bitch piss piss moan bitch bitch piss moan moan"....these f'n dumbasses have nocturnal emissions over the chance to 💩 on him...they drool at the chance to prove him wrong.

🤬ing dumb*****

You all make me wanna puke.

Abby does that too when birds are on the porch..
Coworkers wondering why I burst out laughing at these back to back posts….
You’re Vol-polar and we miss it when you take a few days off…. Carry on please

For me eliminate the losses we should not have had:
UF & Mizzou.

Do that and the season looks more like last year and less like this one. We have more talent than most teams on our schedule despite the occasional negative comments on recruiting. It is not quite elite though.

We do not have the in state talent to close from great to elite. We don't have the budget to outspend the largest spenders either. We must close those gaps with exciting play and coaching.

We will go as far as Nico can take us.

All of our eggs are in one basket, for better or worse.

I personally hate the narrative of “Joe’s earned the right to start the bowl game”…this isn’t high school, if Joe plays then fine, but if the coaches wsnt to build for the future by giving Nico the reps then that is more important. Joe has had his chances, but he shouldn’t be given the reins in the bowl game just because “hes a senior and earned it”
You never “play for the future”

You play to win the game TODAY.

Worry about next year when it’s next year.

I expect Nico to play well from the beginning. He will surely make mistakes but he has more potential than any big time recruit UT has had in a long time. Heupel did a fantastic job in retaining veterans on the OL to give Nico a great chance for success. NI will have playmakers in the backfield along with WRs as well. The expectation for me is around 9-3.

I believe it runs deeper than that. As for budget, isn't our NIL budget about as big as any? As for in-state talent, is the talent in Alabama any better? We have a good recruiting area that extends beyond in-state, excellent fan support, and strong facilities. With the right coach, you absolutely can win big here (just like at Alabama).

To an extent though, you are right. A few schools (Florida and Texas) have a bit more advantages. Fortunately, they are not currently elite.

Basilio was talking about this before Seaton announced. He said that Heupel’s plan is to build the program similar to an NFL franchise. You spend money on rock solid QB, LT, and edge rushers. Obviously you try to get the best you can in all the other positions but these are key to long term success.

So we missed on Seaton but it wasn’t for lack of money which is reassuring. We aren’t recruiting as well as our top opponents but we’re doing better now than in the past. We will have to supplement from the portal more than UGA and Alabama but that’s ok. We just have to be prepared to pay to make that happen. I’m hoping that Heupel sees a guy like Brazzell as a real difference maker. We need one at WR to take the next step too.
Would add DBs.

Many say lockdown DB is now equal or more to edge rushers in the NFL. DBs can give rushers time to get home and negate quick passing schemes.

Change from 30 years ago when run stopping LBs were $$$. Now it's to stop the passing game first. See: UGA.

Yes, the talent in Alabama is better. There isn’t a Saraland, Hoover, or Thompson in Tennessee.
