I don’t even understand the sentiment they are going “all in” in 2024…the transfers they took were mostly defense and only 4 out of 8 of those guys I would consider “good” the rest are average to below average. The difference is they are paying all of them to start lolthey're going "all in" on 2024. i'm not sure anyone seriously thinks what OM has done this off season is a sustainable way to run a program long term.
The thing is...he becomes almost useless if the opponent knows it is a run or pass when he is in if the staff try to work around it, so the staff can't call plays around his deficiency or it becomes huge tell..he will get his ass benched if he doesn't get better at pass pro.Don't think Sampson will be an enthusiastic blocker. It's one reason he lost PT to Small and he knew it. He has other skills.
I think Kiffin is trying to maximize a short-term window. He knows he has a favorable schedule next year and is trying to rent the players to ride that to the playoffs. That will either springboard him to a position he wants more or net him more money and better terms at Ole Miss. He's banking on transfers' self-interests helping his self-interests. To your point, chemistry is fickle and I'm not sure he can herd cats long enough to make it work. But it will be something to watch.that's why i think it's so interesting to watch what happened at aTm, Miami, UF with how they were were recruiting and landing these big names...and just a couple years down the road...bupkis.
what kiffin is doing is either really smart, or repeating what those schools did. i think it's smarter because you have some semblance of what you're getting as a college player and the players themselves have some experience with the whole experience to draw on.
still......if buying a roster was sure fired, the Yankees would win the series more times than not. and i still think chemistry and leadership on a football team matter, and while it's apparent you can manufacture a roster, i'm not sure you can manufacture the intangibles that sometimes wind up being the thing that puts a team over the top.
my sense is there's a lot of "grass is greener" going on, and ultimately they'll fall short of what will be expected of what i think will be a preseason top 5 OM team this coming season.
I do...it's called "injury"...for us to compete against the SEC they have to stay healthier than they did this year.I don't see an issue with our potential starting OL next year, especially if Spraggins returns.
Yeah...I chuckled..you could tell she had been practicing too.Did you see Kayla Burton's face when the MVP award was given to Nico? The person butchered his name badly. At the end Kayla made a point to at least say "Congratulations to Nico".
Well, yeah I can agree with that. Talking strictly the starting OL, I like what we’ve got overall.I do...it's called "injury"...for us to compete against the SEC they have to stay healthier than they did this year.
I agree with your other post to a degree...we have huge potential..the problem is it's potentially good and potentially bad both.
There is almost no way the starting OL stay healthy...and good depth is still not visible.
