Recruiting Football Talk VII

The blindside block call was REALLY TRASH.

The ref kicking the ball, we just have to be lined up there so when Florida subs we snap it, easy 1st then.

There were a few missed DPIs and Defensive holding calls. But what’s frustrating is that’s just a few calls BUT THEY ALL HURT US. I don’t recall any that hurt Florida and were bad calls.

Ollie Lane costs us a ton of yards himself too. But I’m more annoyed that in year 3 our OL coach isn’t playing a single starter HE recruited out of HS. That worries me.

Yeah, one thing that bugs me is “X got outcoached by Y…that’s a huge red flag.”

Like you said, it happens. Tom Osborne used to get inexplicably outcoached one game per year for what seemed like decades (17 years, maybe?). Then he won three national championships.
Exactly. None of us are perfect. Let’s bounce back and win some titles.

Interesting comparisons (should not be concluded that the outcomes will be same/similar) for first 29 games:
Heupel 20-9
Heupel (UCF) 24-5
Pruitt 15-14
Jones 14-15
Dooley 14-15
Smart 22-7
Richt 24-5
Saban (LSU) 21-8
Saban (UA) 21-8
Meyer 25-4
Fulmer 22-6-1
Spurrier (UF) 23-6
Spurrier (USC) 18-11
Mullen (MSU) 16-13
Mullen (UF) 23-6
Beamer 16-13

I mean, being .700 in your first 30 games (assuming a win next week) is a pretty decent litmus test and a high quality start to a tenure. The only one of these coaches that was at that level and didn't last was Mullen at Florida.

Slants, posts, curls? That’s midrange to WR’s. I’m telling you that it’s not Heupel’s offense. Only 29 games in.
7% of hookers attempts were screens last year. 20% of Milton’s attempts this year have been screens. 3% of passing have gone 30+, last year it was 10%. Continue to think the play calls are the exactly the same if you want. They’re not.

We didn't lose because:

We dont have Hyatt or Tillman
we dont have Darnell Wright
We don't have the defensive players that went to the draft.
We don't have Alex Golesh

We lost because we dont have Hendon Hooker or comparable QB to cover for crappy, over-his-head defensive coordinator.

In order to win last year, we had to outscore folks. We're not good enough on offense to outscore folks.

The fighting Deion's having a tough go against Colorado State. Yall Deion worshippers still loving you some Deion?
I'm not a fan of any coach being overly cocky. Skin color doesn't matter. So I'm not a fan of Deion doing that. But I think it's way too early to tell how good a coach he is. Win or lose.
