Correct.the O line isn't "not so good". we're missing a couple of pieces.
the thing everyone seems to be forgetting is that the PRIMARY reason we're trying to be so active on the OT position is so that we don't have to play someone there that still needs some development. that isn't a fancy way of saying who we have sucks.
in terms of managing the roster at that position, everybody basically agrees that OL, esp OT, is a development position even for the higher rated guys. how long that development curve is, is the question. and if we can land a couple of dudes right now to help bridge that developmental gap, that's what we're going to do.
that's the goal. not to replace the 'trash players' we currently have. we have some good young talent. and we have some guys that need some work. adding guys that can come in and start right now buys time.
what information do we have, really? Heard is still on the market. the KS kid is gonna be a dad and decided to stay home, and Pounds was OM bound before he hit the portal. everything else is hyperbole.Correct.
But that's where the gnashing of teeth comes in.
We just seemingly struck out on our top 2 targets.

1 is shopping for a pay day where we've never really been highest bidder.
I agree we don't know what the coaches are thinking, but with the information we currently have things seem pretty rough.
They don't have any standards or concerns for the future. They have a cake walk schedule in 2024 and Lane is pushing all his chips into the middle to have a playoff run in 2024 and either parley that to a better contract or a move to a more desirable job. Our coaches understand that winning for one year is great but if you don't build a sustainable program the fans will turn on you in a heart beat. Case in point... We went to the Orange bowl last year, but when we took a step back to the Citrus bowl this year the fans are up in arms and whining like there is no tomorrow calling for firings and wanting explanations for why we are where we are. Even though we are exactly where anybody with realistic expectations would expect us to be with the plus side of having over achieved in 2022.Not trying to start a fuss here and frankly Tennessee isn't the only fanbase that has to be scratching their head about this one but how come Ole Miss is landing all these transfer players. What makes their NIL situation so special?

The Heard kids visit didn't sound overly promising and the MSST kid is looking for a payday, and it's been said repeatedly thay we offer what we think is right and dont get into bidding wars.what information do we have, really? I wouldn't doubt it though. We've heard of frustration from spyre. Swain is saying, right now, that it's not the NIL at all. He mentioned guys who can close but don't want to and guys that can't close being the same thing. Read that how you want but it appears everyone is doing their job in helping improve this roster but OL is not getting it done on a certain end. When that is the weak link, of course thats where the pressure will be focused on.Basilio gets his "information" from VN, so I would take that with a grade of slaw.
yep. no disagreement. but you and i both know that's not the discussion being held in most corners of this forum the past few days....that's all i was getting at. seeing these statements like we're gonna get Nico killed and so and so should be fired and stop donating to NIL etc..... i mean....good grief.....anyway...that's the stuff i'm talking about. The Heard kids visit didn't sound overly promising and the MSST kid is looking for a payday, and it's been said repeatedly thay we offer what we think is right and dont get into bidding wars.
When you cut ten, fifty million dollar checks. You deserve more than just being informed and a phone call every now and again. He does have a building, but when you give the millions that he has, you get some input. That’s just how the world works. I do agree it doesn’t help overall to the program but those type of donors should get preferential treatment when they are funding much of the upgrades and filing the budget.A strong AD keeps them informed/listens to their input but keeps them at a semi-distance… Dickey was the last strong AD we had…. He was able to manage the boosters pretty well…. The years inbetween Dickey and DW is what happens when the boosters have too much input/meddle.
I appreciate all the boosters and we wouldn’t stand a chance without them.
Fair enough.yep. no disagreement. but you and i both know that's not the discussion being held in most corners of this forum the past few days....that's all i was getting at. seeing these statements like we're gonna get Nico killed and so and so should be fired and stop donating to NIL etc..... i mean....good grief.....anyway...that's the stuff i'm talking about.
in an actual conversation about the topic, you might find there's a lot i would agree with when discussing the actual issues. and you'd find that i think a lot of what we're doing, philosophically speaking anyway, i do agree with. but to go over every transaction and try to pick it apart with what very little information we actually have, is futile imo.
Why do you make stuff up to feed your argument, we literally gave Seaton the highest NIL offer for his services and he still chose Colorado… you can argue all you want but continually using misinformation in your statements only hurts what you are trying to convey…Correct.

Because it's been a repetitive theme from those that know that we don't get into bidding wars for portal guys. Which is the topic of conversation. Why do you make stuff up to feed your argument, we literally gave Seaton the highest NIL offer for his services and he still chose Colorado… you can argue all you want but continually using misinformation in your statements only hurts what you are trying to convey…
I never once slung insults your way, however continually spamming the board with the same “OL worries” when it is January and the roster is obviously not set for the past 3 days is an insult in itself.Because it's been a repetitive theme from those that know that we don't get into bidding wars for portal guys. I think maybe you're reading comprehension needs a little work, or you're just slinging insults looking for likes.
Again, I think you're reading comprehension needs some work.I never once slung insults your way, however continually spamming the board with the same “OL worries” when it is January and the roster is obviously not set for the past 3 days is an insult in itself.
