Exactly...they needed something they could absolutely count on...there is no freaking way they would let little idealistic things like competitive fairness and integrity...an even playing field...gum up the gears of their multi-billion dollar machine.and the NCAA
He wouldn’t take the job. My sources say Urban is a lot of things, but he’s classy enough to only stick fingers in the buttholes of sorority girls who aren’t his cousin. Apparently In Tuscaloosa, cousin interactions are a must.I guess it’s just me, because no one else is bring this up, but I would hire Urban Meyer if I were Bama.
Anyone following in Saban’s footsteps is going to fail. They may have success in Year 1 by using Saban’s scraps, but by 2 and 3, we’ll see the wheels starting to come off. The dynasty dies with Saban.Lanning is gonna be the guy and let’s face it, it’s a great hire. I wouldn’t expect much fall off in production or recruiting either. I wish they’d end up with a bad hire and go through a rebuild though.
Well, if Bama would hire Butch I heard ole Butch would give them a lifetime supply of Barb’s chip dip. It’s known to have healing powers, for like when you fall on a helmet and stuff.Have a buddy with some connections, TIFWIW, but he says this is due to Ms. Terry (Saban’s wife) having some major health problem diagnosis. Which is very sad and prayers to them if that’s the case.
On a football level, this lends to them not being as prepared as a year long plan. They may be having a full on coaching search.
This isn’t always true. It might not be championships every other year, but they won’t fall off a cliff either. Not with Lanning at least. I expect they’ll still be a 9-3 and above program with himAnyone following in Saban’s footsteps is going to fail. Anybody thinking it won't be a great hire is crazy. But you know what else is fun..Lanning is gonna be the guy and let’s face it, it’s a great hire. I wouldn’t expect much fall off in production or recruiting either. I wish they’d end up with a bad hire and go through a rebuild though.
You don't buy the story that Saban found out how old he is and simultaneously received completely out of the blue bad health news seconds before 4:00p today?Lanning is gonna be the guy and let’s face it, it’s a great hire. I wouldn’t expect much fall off in production or recruiting either. I wish they’d end up with a bad hire and go through a rebuild though.
You think 9-3 every year with some gasps at a playoff bid will cut it in a post-Saban Tuscaloosa? We had people wanting to run off Heupel this year at 8-4, and we haven’t done anything of substance since 1998.This isn’t always true. It might not be championships every other year, but they won’t fall off a cliff either. Not with Lanning at least. I expect they’ll still be a 9-3 and above program with him
Yeah...but you're nuts if you think 10-2, 9-3 type seasons will keep him employed in CrappaBubba land...lol...it's funny that you believe that..This isn’t always true. Birmingham office officiating stole several wins for Saban this year. Will they keep that up because it's Bama? If so 8-4 is rigged to read 11-1.Yeah...but you're nuts if you think 10-2, 9-3 type seasons will keep him employed in CrappaBubba land...lol...it's funny that you believe that..
That is the crux of it...they will get a good coach and he will live off of Sabans stockpile well for a season or two...but Coach _______ will get no patience...the first hiccups and that fanbase will eat him alive...and then the carousel will start up.
