I get it’s too close in time and people beef with LeBron for various reasons, but dude is the best NBA player of all time. He consistently beat the best anyone could throw at him for two decades. It’s transcendent.
His 6th on my list. People can think whatever they want to about him off the court, I don't care...I'm speaking strictly to the basketball court, LeBron has been nothing but great. However, he does lose points with me because of the flopping. He use to not do sh!t like that.

First of all...first time Charles Oakley hit his wussy ass he would have laid on the floor and cried like the little floppy wussy baby he is.
Lebron is a tool. But he could have played then and been great.

He would have played differently. But he would have been great then too.

Speaking of...

Started the new True Detective a couple of days ago. Got about 20 mins in...what a POS. And, I'm not one to do that, cut something off. It was terrible. May get better, but I'll never know. Then again, maybe I'm just a "first-season fanboy" or a "bro", according to it's creator. Whatever, it sucks.

So, in it's place, I finally watched The Queen's Gambit. Very good! I very much enjoyed it! Anya Taylor-Joy is brilliant and beautiful and amazing.I bet that book is a real nice read. Highly recommend.

This is the ONLY argument I'll listen to whenever talking about Bird's place, the shortness of his career. If someone doesn't want to put him top 5 because of his short career, that's very fair. Outside of that, save it...I don't waste my time on nonsense.

However, imo, it strengthens the argument of just how great he was. He played 13 seasons...about 6 or 7, maybe 8, of those were prime, him at the peak. He hurt his back in 1985, and he was really never the same, although he still went on to win another championship and MVP...it hampered him for the rest of his career, then the knees, then the Achilles. Three out of his last four seasons, he played in 6, 60, and 45 games. So, again, we're looking at a career that was only about 8 to 9 years of full strength, and that's counting his rookie and second seasons. Again, him at the peak of his powers is around 6,7, maybe 8 years. In that: 3 Championships, 3 MVPs (in a row), 2 Finals MVPs. Lost in the Finals 2 other seasons.

Point: if he could've gotten 9, 10 years of prime...hell, 12 to 13, like so many others...there's NO DEBATE. He wins another couple of championships and MVP's...and, yes, I'm very comfortable saying that, not a doubt whatsoever.

Also, can't look at his scoring like Jordan and others. Bird had others on his team that could score, he didn't have to every night like MJ; and, another point, can't look at fg % like today, defense is nowhere in the same ballpark today. I mean, can you imagine a Larry Bird that you couldn't put your hands on?!?!?

So, Bird's career has to be looked at in context...just a handful of years of elite...but, look what he did in those handful of years. If he could've had a 15 year career of good health...who knows what the accomplishments could have been.

One last point: those that want to talk about his defense, the "slow white boy"...they should get a clue. It's a myth. Bird was on the All NBA Defensive 2nd team three different times. While no, not the defensive player Jordan or Kobe were, he more than could hold his own.
When I create my all time unbeatable team. The first 2 every time are MJ and Bird. And I’m a lakers fan. Magic was my favorite player. But those 2 were dogs. Great in any era. Always hitting the shot w the game in the line. Always being great in the greatest moments.

I've tried to watch it several times...it is freaking ridiculous...they walk or travel or double dribble nearly every time up the floor, there is no "dance"..and defense is non-existent.
I’m not sure defense is non existent. when you allow great shot makers to run w the ball like 10 year olds without taking dribbles. Not sure how you defend that.

Thank you. Obviously there’s some that want to protect the “girl.”

Some think it’s just what a girl does.

Some don’t want to discuss because it’s a girl.
Or we don’t care because she plays for a team that is not Tennessee and is in a conference that’s not the SEC.

Not aimed at you @SweetasSoda

Just must be a really slow sports news day if this gets as much traffic on VN as it is getting…😐

So...

Modern offensive minded Basketball = bad / old school, defensive minded Basketball = good

Modern offensive minded Football = good / old school, defensive minded Football = also good

Why the difference?

I think she is freaky looking. Almost like she's had too many plastic surgeries. Way too skinny imo

I'll give you that, yes, sometimes her face looks way too skinny, and with those big eyes, it just adds to it; however, in The Queen's Gambit, she looks great! She's definitely got a different look to her...I like it. 1000014197.jpg

For anyone that needs it.

January 27, 2024: The mistakes that you have made will be highlighted in your life, and you will have the opportunity to go back and make corrections either naturally or spiritually. This is a time to review and repent of the things that were unbecoming a believer in Christ. Let all your sins be wiped away, and be renewed, says the Lord. Psalm 51:1-2 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

This is not my stance, but I think the rub with modern basketball is the disregard for stats knowing shots might have been largely uncontested. Or the ability to get cheap baskets with ticky tack fouls.

With football there has been a softening of the rules in favor of offense, but defense is still integral. This year in college they were letting defenses drape on recievers. Made for engaging receptions.

Just one current example is how James Harden had built a career around bs fouls
