Lol wut? A separate group of games that allow performance enhancing drugs. Weird. The idea of banning PEDs is to ensure everyone on the same playing field. Either allow them (and make every drug available to every athlete) or don’t. But we don’t need a separate set of games. Pretty simple.
They are not the Olympics...did you listen to the vid? They are in competition with them.

SIAP but this is just flat out ridiculous. So, the NCAA didn’t actually find anything NEW that we did wrong when they claimed on Monday they had multiple violations against multiple programs they were planning to hit us with?’
They’re just trying to re-try infractions cases that were ALREADY CLOSED!!!! Incredible. Any shred of illusion that the NCAA doesn’t hate us is completely broken. This is an actual witch hunt. Double jeopardy?? Hello???

I don’t even know what this means. They bringing an infractions case against us or selling us insurance?

Edit: Oh, I see. They’re trying to lump old stuff into an LOIC charge. Obvious axe grinding.

Absolutely ludicrous, I can see why both conferences are starting a committee. There has to be a correlation here

Many want this. It just isn't reality anymore...in fact it hasn't been for decades. These coaches of an apparently amateur sport have been making 6-7 figures for decades...

Maybe Mcgill still wants the players to parade around as amateurs and not be paid. But he's accepted reality and is moving forward with what is.
What I have always wanted is for it to be amateur with a level playing field...I've always wanted the NFL to have their own minor league sustem for kids that want the money only, and for players that appreciated the opportunity to play for a college scholarship as an agreed amateur to be what CFB is.

The player has a choice, and knows going in what that choice means.

That is fair to everybody...also if a kid doesn't have a professional opportunity.out if HS, playing CFB then gives him a chance to prove he is worthy of one, and let them go pro at any point they are able.

That is fair...and I would still watch the Vols and almost never watch or care about pros.

But none of that is ever going to happen so...🤬 me I guess.

I believe, the Courts will follow precedents they set.

NCAA is governing body, and leader. Effective leadership would have a finger on pulse of its members. NIL was coming. Everyone knew it. Lack of action, or legislation. Failure to act, resulting in scrambling to understand, comprehend, and really have a grasp on what the rules were. Lent to everyone having multiple lawyers having to specialize in this new, changing thing called NIL.

They didnt act. So, we did. State's did. Shifting sands. Everyday its different.

Ok, so, the NCAA is falling back to 'you should have known.'

1- We had attorneys. We worked with you. WE CALLED YOU!
2- You couldve told us this before.
3- We tried to call, you didnt answer. You said you wanted to work with us, but you dont.

Employees have a right to know what their salaries can or will be. Businesses cant keep all that information to themselves.

NCAA isnt a Government agency. It isnt a law enforcement agency. It is a business. It shouldnt have the power to overstep State Legislation. Further, the ambiguity of its laws, complexity of, and overall lack of ability to enforce, and enforce consistently across the board create an unfair environment for SA's.
agreed, and i don't know how you roll this up in to this suit, but there's a lot of selective enforcement going on as well. there are some extremely obvious things going--at least as obvious as Nico coming to TN LOL--with other programs that never even register on the meter. i think they thought we were low hanging fruit, and would bend the knee at the sound of 'repeat offender'. Afterall, they just got FSU to curl up in the fetal position....so maybe they figure they got their swagger back....

long story short, based on the guard rails that were available at the time, it would appear we followed them properly, that being the language of the contract Nico signed and that he being a HS kid from the state of CA allowing him to sign while not being enrolled.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to find tickets to a home basketball game? Looking to buy some for the Vanderbilt game but want to avoid the fees on Ticketmaster, Vivid seats, etc. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like communism.
I guess it depends on how it eventually plays out as far as money payouts. I’m sure the D1 schools would want a 60/40 or 70/30 split with the D2 schools. The equal shares would be for each team in their division.
I’m sure someone on here could look it up but the difference between TV revenue for NFL and college football packages is HUGE.
I believe this is because you get the entire NFL package and in college in get a piece here and there. I think the SEC/BIG 10 are seeing this too. If just those two conferences were to come together and offer all their football games as a single package 😳

Players and Unis both are going to be stupid not to...a CBA is the only way to have enforceable rules.
You’re basically a kid coming into some money based on your talent? How eager are you to sign up to pay union dues and share what you can negotiate for yourself?

UT is not going to get destroyed. But it is a distraction we don't need and it is adding an extra layer to recruiting. Coaches are having to spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about infractions and keeping players and recruits looped in when they need and want to be focused on the team.

Investigations are always a concern because they create uncertainty, which diverts focus and mental energy from other activities. You're right-- the NCAA engaged, so we have to fight. It puts a burden on those who don't deserve it, but knowing leadership has their back is reassuring. it's unfinished business, and we have to finish it to move forward.
agreed.

and i think in terms of "protecting student athletes" and keeping a "level playing field", at what point does it become relevant for the NCAA to leak....errrr...report or otherwise make public the other active inquires or investigations that are going on at other programs?

again, we're not the only ones that hit the ground running. we were just better at it. Miami, aTm stand out...but you can't tell me OSU, UGA, Mizzou, LSU, Ole Miss, and a host of other programs aren't in the same exact boat. hell you have coaches at these programs basically begging for money to fund their collectives for crying out loud.

we should file a civil suit for defamation to boot. just pile on.

all that said, i'm willing to believe that with how prepared we were to hit the ground running when this was leaked, that we are equally prepared to communicate with recruits, parents etc.....and defend against the negative recruiting. i'm sure it will have an impact. but i think we can manage it this time, probably a lot easier than the last one. and i think the track record with our NIL being above board and consistent will help.

but, it is still something to navigate, so i agree with your overall point.
