Did anyone in here want Kellie Harper to be our coach?

I actually wanted Kara Lawson when they hired Kellie - I love Kellie and hoped she’d be successful. I know how much she loves the Lady Vols and the University of Tennessee but it’s time to go get the best we can get. (I don’t want Kara this time and feel confident DW will make the right hire.)

It’s the feel good story of the year per ncaa basketball. The moment he decided to come back for his senior year, the ncaa marketing machine went into story mode. They had an agenda all year to keep this awesome story alive. I’m not sure that it’s really that great of a story since he requires so much help to have great games…

They're packaging sports as entertainment. Storylines shape content, networks create matchups and game times for maximum viewership and marketing/sponsorship opps. Announcers are the "stars," quipping nonstop with packaged video segments, graphics and interviews that eclipse live action. It's all about making more money, but it's making sports far less enjoyable to watch-- and frequently impossible to listen to.

The Purdue game Sunday was awful. All they whined about was redemption for Purdue.

I am totally fine with the DNA and results of Rick Barnes style basketball. When he is done try something more modern, but until then enjoy him and it for what it is.

I noticed that a one point Friday night, Z had some kind of nose stopper in one nostril. Looked sort of like a white earbud. But when I looked later, it was gone. Idk.

He busted his nose on a screen in the S16. Had a gauze in there during the game at times. Saw a gauze at one point in the E8 too.

He also took that illegal screen from Edey and looks to really jar him. Might've tweaked something in his hip that slowed him up the rest of the game.

I think he'll take it year by year. Ten years is a good milestone for taking stock and evaluating where you want your life to go. I don't think anybody, including Rick, knows when he'll decide it's time, but I think UT fans should savor every year.

Rick Barnes has made this job into a desirable job for Head Coaches.

When he retires AD Danny White will have no problem finding a qualified replacement.

Coaches will be knocking the door down wanting in, couldn't say this 30 years ago.

Also feel the same about Baseball program as well, if Tony left finding a great coach shouldn't be a problem.

I think they'll try to get away from the backstory. And I think DW will make the best hire he can. But "swing big" sets up expectations. There are only a few at the top of the game. The rest are trying to get there.

When he retires AD Danny White will have no problem finding a qualified replacement.

They won't be caught off-guard. Everybody knows it's coming, and CRB will help make it a seamless transition when he decides it's time.

I think it'll be similar to Saban's retirement. DW already has multiple plans in place and a hotboard. They're in communication about this for sure. When Rick is ready he will tell him.

I mean….he will be in his 70’s. Nothing against him, he is a great coach and I love having him, just saying that if I were to put money on when he retired it’d be next year

It will more than likely be something similar to Nate Oats style although i wish it would be a coach following UCONN’s path.

Which is my point. I might have a list, you might have a list, then there's the list that matters which is Danny's. I honestly believe if you fired the old man today or let him retire in another decade, White will get a solid candidate.

I’m not really wanting her but her career projections is much higher than KH…. She has done a great job improving Duke and seems to be a good recruiter.

Not at the top of my list, but a decent gall back. I remember she was pretty upset when Kelly got hired, I wonder how many bridges she burnt.
