Basilio going into more detail on Nico: he’s not good, not great, he’s insane. Not sure how to discuss it because he’s afraid it will put too much pressure and expectations on Nico and Heupel. After all he’s still a freshman and hasn’t played much. This guy is better than Hooker but the question is how is the rest of the team? Is it better?
In Jack Burtons opinion the rest of the team is better. We’re probably more athletic at LB and secondary. Basilio said our DL is so good it could field 3 teams.
I tend to ignore any and all AtoZ articles as most are exactly this, bullsh!t attention grabbing headlines with no supporting information. Or straight opinion pieces. Never much, if anything, of substance. I'm sure whoever is running that site reads message boards and regurgitates what they read on here.
TLDR.So, this is a post from today from the Lady Vols forum, and please remember I pull for Tennesse in all sports, and naturally football is my main sport, but I legitimately always have tried to keep up with the other sports, including Lady Vols basketball.. Here is the post - "There were many, myself included, that were beginning to question the university’s commitment to the sport that put us on the map." I parse this out of it - the sport that put us on the map. This bolded statement gave me a flasback to my early 30's in the late 1990's, when on a visit to the Bitlmore House with my then wife, an older gentleman probably older than what I am now, I'm 57, so I would say this gentleman was probably in his 60's like maybe a little older than my Dad.. Anyway, he was wearing a Lady Vols T-Shirt, and I said "Yes sir, Go Vols and Go Lady Vols"! His response, Go Lady Vols only... I said nothing but thought that was interesting and I'm respectful in my interactions, but I remembered that comment with the firing of Coach Harper and comments like the bolded line from the The Lady Vols forum. In my opinion, it shows a lack of understanding of what The University of Tennessee sporst foundation is based upon, it is not and will never be any other Sport except Tennessee Football, BUT, like a solidly buitl home, the rest of a well built home can be sustained year after year, due to that foundation. The foundation and "front proch" is and always will be Tennessee Football, but as I have said a few times in the past, if Tennessee has a collegiate level Chess Team, then I want our Chess Team to be #1. I don't mean any disrespect to Lady Vols fans, but too many of them are just Lady Vols fans only. I'm just one of those guys that watches as many of the Vols/Lady Vols sporting events that I can, personal schedule permitting and want all Universtiy of Tennessee athletic teams to excel daily. Sorry for the long post, I guess I got "triggered" by that post, as the young folks would say. Ha-ha... GBO..!
I do trust AtoZ or Basilio at all but i want Backy Hammon to be the LV coach and Nico be the greatest qb of all time. I get your overall point, but is this person totally wrong? Football put us on the map, but I remember growing up when the LV were the only team not embarrassing us on a national stage year in and year out. Hell, I remember the push to have Summit coach the men and there were several jokes—or given hindsight being 20/20, maybe they weren’t jokes?—where people would say she should just coach the football team too. All that to say, yes football is our foundation but the LV have played a huge role in the Big Orange brand. So, this is a post from today from the Lady Vols forum, and please remember I pull for Tennesse in all sports, and naturally football is my main sport, but I legitimately always have tried to keep up with the other sports, including Lady Vols basketball.. I usually have the volume off when I watch the Vols. I may turn it up when there’s a controversial call to hear what they say about it but otherwise, no sound! They're packaging sports as entertainment. Storylines shape content, networks create matchups and game times for maximum viewership and marketing/sponsorship opps. Announcers are the "stars," quipping nonstop with packaged video segments, graphics and interviews that eclipse live action. It's all about making more money, but it's making sports far less enjoyable to watch-- and frequently impossible to listen to.
You're right man. I'll just go through life blaming every one else for my own problems. Seems a much easier way to live, versus self accountability. Since you glibly waived that off.Your point is misplaced in the context of the conversation. The conversation was about how the officiating affected the game. Your answer was basically, "We just needed to make more baskets."
That's ridiculous, as it completely ignores a major reason that we didn't score more (officiating against us), and the reason why we would have to score more (officiating FOR Purdue). Every team misses opportunities in every game. The cost of those missed opportunities will vary from game to game. The officiating increased the cost of the missed opportunities (and likely caused more missed opportunities as we changed our play in response to the officiating). IOW, both teams were going to miss opportunities, no matter what. No one will play perfect games. But the unbalanced officiating put UT in an untenable position per opportunities.
You know why we needed to score more? Because Purdue scored more. You know one reason they scored more? The officiating. You know why we needed to score more than we did? Because we didn't score more than we did. You know one reason? The officiating.
That's OUR point that you glibly hand-waved aside.
Can we have @Jackcrevol reach out to her?
Nowhere did I deny personal accountability. If you reread my posts, you'll see that I affirmed it.You're right man. I'll just go through life blaming every one else for my own problems. Seems a much easier way to live, versus self accountability. Since you glibly waived that off.
We didnt make enough plays man. Plain and simple. Zebras called a horrible game. Horrible. But we still hve to make shots.
