That honestly just brought up a lot more questions than it did answers. Is brooks starting material, or does Banks suck at developing and recruiting to the point that Brooks is our best option?

So our safety room is looking like: Turrentine, Brooks, Thomas, Savage, Charles, Carter, Farooq, Jakobe Thomas, and yet it’s a 50/50 shot that Brooks is the starter. That has to speak negatively on Banks, right? Unless Brooks made that big of a jump in the offseason

Makes no sense unless the guys we've recruited just aren't talented. Or is Brooks really just that good? Possible the sites missed on a guy. Wouldn't be the first time. But if we get poor secondary play again this year, it'll be time for a change IMO.

How do you Recruit for three classes and have will brooks starting at safety.
He may be a stud now but last year he looked slow and not quite as athletic as what you would want imo but I’m not the db coach……

Maybe it is time for a change at db coach…..

I can’t watch our safeties get beat deep almost every game agains this year and if they do we aren’t making playoffs…..

Yeah, I am concerned that we can't buck the trend but we will see. Definitely excited about the season.

I guess that I still sometimes miss the Fulmer era when TN was recruiting at Alabama/Georgia levels. Heupel is arguably the best TN coach in my lifetime (I think he is better X&O than Fulmer) but we still are not fully back yet.

I wonder how much the Pruitt sanctions still hurt.

It's not just the sanctions...it's the 15 years of irrelevance and pure incompetence.

James Pearce will get the Aaron Donald treatment this season. Will see nothing but double teams the other guys should strive knowing offenses are going to be so pre occupied with Pearce.

Exactly...they finally had a season where they met their lofty expectations. They're going to have to do it again, but in a tougher conference, to start being seen as a mainstay at the top. I know their schedule is relatively easy for an SEC schedule, but it will still be tougher than what they're used to. I think the jury is still out on Sarkisian putting out consistently elite teams. He's done a good job recruiting and improving the team every year, but it's definitely going to be more challenging in the SEC. I think too many folks are jumping the gun on expecting Texas to step right in and dominate.

I’m excited about Lewis too. If Seldon is able to make it back by NC State, that’s ideal, but I think Lewis has the ability to be a solid backup as a freshman.

Confirming the goal was the most egregious thing I've seen in the sport. Didn't the league already apologize for an incorrect VAR conclusion this year? Pretty sure they did.

Coach B needed to be gone two years ago. This ref needs to go back to rec leagues. Send him to my over 30 league. Those guys might actually do something about it when a bad call happens.
