There are some very sad, unfortunate situations in Appalachia. Even one where adults not only monetize, but enable a young girl to 'spit on that thang'.

'Be proud hunny'
That would be my primary concern. That some "agent" or "rep" will come to help her manage her 15 minutes of fame, she will get taken advantage of in more ways than one, and wind up worse off than she was before. Nothing to show for all of this except the emotional and possibly physical trauma that resulted from that goof one night on Broadway.

Hopefully that is not the result, but I worry it will be.

We lost 25 innings (almost 3 full games), at least 75 more at bats.
And lost them against the worst teams giving up the most runs. So that suggests we'd have blown the record away. However, we don't know how many of those innings CTV would have used to get young guys experience, so maybe we only best LSU by a few. Either way, we likely break it with full games.

Got to see him play at the old Tiger Stadium in Detroit in '73 when I was a kid. I don't have any cool story to go with that, just happy that I got to see him play.

Also got to see another great 3rd baseman play in the 70s at the old Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati, ol' Charlie Hustle.

First baseball game I ever went to was a Phillies game. I was really young, so the memories are hazy. We lived in Philadelphia because my dad's ship (he was in the Navy) was in the shipyards there. Anyway, Mike Scmidt played third, and the Phillies had just acquired Charlie Hustle to play first base. I was a fan of Pete Rose. Still think he should be in the HoF.

mine was just excited she'd never have to work a traditional job again.

ba dum tsss.

yadda yadda stay at home is hardest and all that blah blah.
My wife started off not wanting to have kids. Then she got an office job and was like maybe having kids and staying home would be ok. She works harder to this day than anyone I have ever known. Stay at home parent is not for the faint of heart.

Looks to me like DK learned about that loafer with no sock game from frat row in his year on Rocky Top.
As a middle aged man, I can tell you that regardless of the outfit, knee high tube socks with color stripes around the tops are always the way to go. ALWAYS!

Until NBA changes the rules on draft eligible players to the Baseball and Football rules. The upperclassmen like Knecht will always fall into the mid range area. NBA banks on drafting youth and developing, I know it's a stupid theory but it's been that way for years.

I put $100 on Knecht to win ROY in NBA.
Might have a tough time getting enough shots on that team. Only one ball and Davis, James, and Russell are all high usage players.

My ex was a stay at home mom, when I had a day off I would keep the kids and let her go do whatever. After a few weeks of watching the kids all day 2 days a week I requested to work 6 days a week at my job.

Being a Braves fan, I love Chipper, but George Brett would be ranked above Chipper. Another former Brave, Eddie Matthews would be up there as well.
I was about to say the same, but I looked up some stats, and Chipper's OPS is higher than both and he has more HR than Brett. He never won a gold glove but I think Brett only won it once. I would put Chipper second, myself.

Maybe we should be highlighted for how many innings missed because of the run rule.
I think we averaged 2.5 HRs per game. Therefore, we would have definitely hit more HRs with 25 more at bats…
If someone wants to check my math?

Either way 60 win NC 🤠

Did they have the run rule when that LSU team set the record? I know they did it in a time where the bats were considered jacked, but I have no idea if the run rule existed at the time, and if it did, how many innings it may have cost them. In a straight head-to-head comparison, we'd also have to look at total number of games played to reach the totals. No matter what, I think what our team did this year was pretty significant and led to a title. Also, let's not forget, we're the first team to have 5 different players hit 20 or more HRs. And only one other team has had 4 players do it.

seems like a good kid, loved.

I may be off base here but seems like there may be some naivete in that town. hope she's getting the right guidance from loved ones.
She’s theirs not ours. I think confidence in her community and family made her honest attempt at fun a non-mistake. It’d ruin a lot of us. This girl isn’t trying to monetize her 15 minutes and it’s refreshing. They’ll be there well after we finish our evaluations. 😏
