Yep. Those Titan fans sure hated a certain former Alabama running back. It must merely be that Captain Clutch played for Kentucky (whom we don't really see as a rival).Do people not realize the Titans fanbase Venn diagram is not two overlapping circles of Titans & Vols?
Signficant portions of Mississippi, Kentucky, and Alabama are also Titans fans.
Many Vols fans aren't even Titans fans. Just looking through this forum that is apparent, but nobody is pleading for all Vol fans to become Titans fans, because we'd all recognize that as absurd. Yet, people complain when the Titans get and draft players from rival universities.
And oftentimes it seems the people complaining are fans of a different NFL franchise in the first place who, wait for it, also don't peddle to the Vols or any other college fanbase.
They literally drafted Theo Jackson last year as a prime exampleNever have and never will be a Titans fan because I lived too long before the state got a franchise. Not speaking for anybody else, but I think any resentment from Vols fans stems from their apparent avoidance of drafting ANYBODY from the program. There’s gotta be somebody they’d take a flyer on…but they’ve resisted. Their team…not ours.
Honestly, a big part of the "drafting Vols" argument stems from their only being two real QB choices when Levis was taken. It was Levis or Hooker. Of course, we all feel Hooker would have been a better choice. We all saw Levis be hot garbage, and we all saw Hooker on a potential Heisman trajectory before he went down. The fact they picked Levis made a lot of us feel some kind of way.I agree. I don't think anyone complained about DH being a Bamer. Nor do they complain about Jeff Simmons being a Miss State Bulldog, or AJ Brown being a Rebel Land Bear Shark.
But when it comes to Levis suddenly this, "Titans franchise needs to pander more to the homestate team" and now Latham is "human garbage" because he has an anti-Vols quote and again a plead for pandering.
Levis sucks and is NOT the guy. And they never should have drafted him. But not because he went to Kentucky, and that doesn't mean they should've drafted a Vol in that slot either. Also, Latham is going to be a pro for a long time imo.
I understand the NIU pick because a lot of people think NIU will take the Group of 5 representative slot in the Playoff....but..I gave this a like, but he also has Northern Illinois, vandy and the gamecocks in the playoffs. Kudos for no bama or ole miss though.
I've been a Levis backer since the draft.............but talking to some former players that are still pretty much "in the know" of what's going on in the Titan's facility.............I'm having some serious doubts...and it's not just based on what happened last Sunday...And he’s only played 11 games. If he’s able to figure it out, and I have my own doubts, but if he does, I’m going to be the most insufferable dude on here
Jeff George lite.He is what he has always been and always will be...a big armed guy who is a massive choker whose mind blows up at the worst moments.
I don't see how people don't understand that....he is the same QB he has always been and always will be.
I get why they have hope...he will make several splash plays and beautiful throws where he looks like one of the greats...and then he inevitably completely spazzes out and looks like Nathan Peterman against Florida.
Maybe, but I'm sure you understand my point. The Titans are not currently playing winning football. It's never wise to court controversy when the natives are restless. They absolutely missed on Levis.
Latham will be fine imo. His first game at left tackle against Sweat was a tall order. And he still probably performed better than anyone we've had at that position since Lewan lol
That's really the point. Titan fans could overlook the mayo, the dancing, and his unfortunate decision to transfer to Kentucky. We could put our arms around him and try to help him recover from those things. He absolutely will not last. A QB who has never executed a game-winning drive in his college or professional career won't become a franchise QB in the pros. The greats make their mark on the game by winning in those moments, and he turns the ball over chronically in those moments.
TWO names out of 27 years comes to mind…I’m sure there are others, but it’s a noticeable trend. I’m a Bears fan and when Jerry Angelo was GM he had a NOTICEABLE affinity for selecting Vanderbilt players. So deflecting me with the PAY ATTENTION bs is a tad weak. I wouldn’t have posted if I didn’t.They literally drafted Theo Jackson last year as a prime example
They also picked Justin Hunter in the second round back when. These are just two examples
People just don’t pay attention
Here we go. NFL apologists: "ooh, aah, the NFL..." Fine, I just happen to think very little of their business practices. What lmao? Are the Preds suddenly only drafting Knoxville Ice Bears players?
It's a professional franchise. It's not their job to coddle to college sports fans. I honestly can't think of a single other NFL fanbase that thinks like this.
So, we all agree that you'll most likely remain a likable member of the board. And he’s only played 11 games. If he’s able to figure it out, and I have my own doubts, but if he does, I’m going to be the most insufferable dude on here
