The Titans thing is really just basic marketing. Do they want more fans, specifically Volunteer fans? Does drafting more VFLs bring in more of those? It seems that you'd want every fan you can get. More jersey sales = more $. Obviously your priority should be on winning. Winning brings in more fans so you don't draft simply because of the college they played at. I think if all else was equal between two choices, it might be wise to pick the VFL. It does appear to me on the surface, the Titans have avoided picking the VFLs.

It’s 2 things: as someone said earlier, the NFL teams typically think they’re in the NFL, they don’t need/have to cater to anybody. The other, it appears they don’t take VFLs because we’re surrounded by it with both being local. Just my opinion

I won't worry much if Lane Kiffin substitutes for a third stringer to fake an injury against an offense that going slow and making substitutions. That seems like an odd thing to worry about.

Otherwise, temp and rules will work the same for whomever is running tempo.

It was a comment about faking an injury, it's like having an extra time out to stop the game to give the defense time to rest and slow down the momentum of the game. It would be difficult to do this with a fast pace offence that does not substitute but in most college games there are many substitutions and slower paced offenses where fake injuries need to be addressed in some way.

If you want to sub, you tell the guy who you wanted to come out the legitimate way to fall down. He was going to come off the field anyway, so now he comes off and you get your subs.

The post I responded to stated that the problem is that coaches (Lane Kiffin) will trot in a third stringer to fake an injury and stop the clock. I'm curious how that is going to happen, unless a coach is dumb enough to plan ahead by getting at least one of his third string defenders stuck on the field against a tempo offense that's gashing them and not substituting.

One problem is that coaches (Kiffin) will then have a 3rd string player designated as the 'fake injury' player who runs onto the field, fakes the injury then who cares he sits out the rest of the series.

But the context of the conversation was rule changes to stop coaches from abusing fake injuries to counter tempo offenses.

Take a turnstile countil, not a paid count, over a 10 year avg. I don't think I'll be off very much. But it was just a estimate of actually fannys in the seats on average over time.

I think what Carthon has done so far is very impressive (apart from Levis and I’ve heard that was more a Vrabel thing, correct me if I’m wrong @peaygolf )

The defense looks to be fast, just not deep yet
