Recruiting Football Talk VIII

We are now first for the collective system and revenue sharing. Tell me how much has it really helped? The same teams round out the top 10, and we usually finish 10-13.

So essentially, they want us to pay more for the same recruiting results.

Like you, and others have said the big programs will follow suit, so we really don’t have any major advantage over those teams….again.

Should have waited till we made a playoff run (results) and no one would be complaining about this.

Is this a serious question?

I love to travel as well but airline prices aren’t exactly cheap themselves unless you fly an unreliable airline and I know from experience of relatives if your flight gets cancelled your SOL and have to rent a car and drive home from key west. Turns out they would have saved money just paying the extra for a ticket on a more reliable airline.
Trust me I know about unreliable airlines (allegiant). I vowed to never fly allegiant again, its been over 6 years since I’ve flown with them. I have never (knock on wood lol) had issues with spirit or frontier. When I go to the next ut game, I will try to fly with the major airlines: delta, united, sw (they compensated me nicely for the ‘22🍊 bowl debacle), or american.

My philosphy flying is to get a basic seat with no amenities. I am low maintenance when it comes to flying, regardless where I sit, we all get there the same time.

The pods are funny, man. Always something to be concerned with. Used to be just winning. Now it’s a concern that the offense hasn’t had to play a full game yet. So many concerns, always concerned.

JG was rated 1. He ended up sucking. Imagine paying him a ton of money.

The next year we got Trey Smith.
He was rated the #1 dual on the composite. Per 247’s website, he was rated the 13th qb overall

that's been out the window since Hamilton
My wife works at UT Medical Center. She used to get emails about discount tickets. I don't think she got one this year.

It was usually USC, Mizzu, KY, and then our OOC games. We went as a family of 4 to the Ole Miss game a few years ago for less that $200 dollars, including parking.

*It's fun having a top 5 team.... especially if you can afford it.

To be fair he said “top QBs and top tackle”

JG was one of the top QBs and Trey Smith was a top tackle that year.

Nico was a top QB and Sanders is a top tackle.

Only earlier this year did we finally get out from under threat of new NCAA sanctions after getting clear last year. You’re seeing how without those weights around our neck were able to recruit with the best. The perception is that we also pay the best so that will only help us. I would expect recruiting to stay strong and only improve from here with this new announcement.

Tennessee football is essential to many of us. I understand not wanting to pay more but this is entertainment not food and shelter.

Point of revenue sharing was to give the players a cut of the already HUGE pie they're mostly responsible for, an add-on fee means the fans are basically on the hook for paying for it.
Which is the way has always been and always will be. Increased operating expenses are always passed on to the consumer. The laws of Physics, economics, human nature, and God are inviolate.

But we recruited with the best with Butch?

How has it helped? Look at our offensive and defensive lines, how do you think we were able to convince those guys to stay?
