Recruiting Football Talk VIII

He is what you saw out there tonight against quality competition...I love the guy for giving his all, but the truth is just the truth.

I have not, nor will I bash Dayne Davis...but I will not lie either.

We need Heard and Campbell back and at 100%, especially against UGA and Bama...just the truth.

Built with a tackle body, but at least at this level seems to not be athletic or talented enough to play there. One silver lining was Johnson seemed to get settled in the 2nd half.

But both Nico fumbles Dayne just got straight up beat by speed, the first one Dylan picking up the outside rusher would have saved it, but that 2nd one was all Dayne.

Probably the best bracket for us.

I don't love what the playoff has done to NY6 bowl games and their former importance, but damn that looks so much more fun and compelling than the four-team playoff. That was truly the worst of both worlds. Especially when it was just a rotating cast of UGA, Bama, OU, Ohio State, and Clemson for several years.

I think that first one he didn't realize the DB was coming until it was too late. He was looking inside and turned his head to look for the blitz too late. Still inexcusable, but I think it was a missed assignment more than speed.

Agree the 2nd one was all Dayne.

Another thing that happened late, that we REALLY can't let happen against Green and Milroe...is losing contain and missing tackles on that stupid backup quarterback...dang that was frustrating as hell-o to watch.
Agree, I think I might use Pearce to spy both QB's since teams are devoting so much effort to neutralizing him. Green tries that jump kick crap against Pearce and they will need a MASH unit to reassemble his parts.

Josephs, Pili, Jakobe Thomas. I love the entire defense but these 3 are my favorite to watch play.

Josephs is everywhere. Pili is everywhere. And Thomas murders people.
And that Jermod McCoy is the best full time corner we’ve had since? Alontae? Jonathan Wade? Kid is the real deal.

He does a great job of contain and setting the edge. A lot of plays where a qb would usually roll out to escape pressure are shut down because he's camping out waiting.

I love how they were like oh incomplete pass we can't review it... That's a reviewable play they chose not to review
As was spotting it at the 14 when Nico clearly slipped (shocker!) down at the 13 yard line, to make it 4th and 1 and force a FG. (I could see spotting the nose inches shy of the 13 and measuring, but they put it fully on the 14 yard line.)

Ya I thought he was 6 inches short, but they marked him more than a yard shy. That was a horrific spot.

Yeah that spot was so bad we were gonna score a TD that drive that defense was gassed
