He told me they’ve actually been growing this field over in South Carolina for 4 months. It sounds to me like they have a backup plan no matter the situation that may arise during the year.

If true then that’s perfectly fine and I’d support him in that. If he thinks he wasn’t ready then that’s his decision to make and no one else. I hope he comes back ready to play!

He is on a f'n team...he is paid to play...this ain't golf, there are a lot of people you answer to.

Addendum: This reply is to the idea in your post, not the actual situation. I don't think for a second that Heup and the staff would put up with a "**** you..I ain't playing cause my handler said not to"...or a straight up no-show for that matter.

The idea that you don't answer to anybody in a professional team sport is absolutely ludicrous to me.
