Recruiting Football Talk VIII

This is a horrible look for:

UNLV
NIL
The Player........JOM, but he looks the worst.

If I were him........I'd "ball" my a$$ off and then take it up legally later.
I'm just now seeing he may have demanded to renegotiate????

If that's the case........I hope he ends up at D3.......... if he can get another year somewhere..........

"UNLV insider Joe Arrigo is currently live on a Twitter space. He says Sluka went into Coach Odom’s office on Tuesday and said he needed $300k to stay. Odom said that was not happening and Sluka cleared out his locker. Sluka skipped practice on Wednesday and posted his intention to leave that night. Arroyo believes Sluka got an NIL agent after the Kansas game who got into Sluka’s ear about making more NIL money. The re may or may not be another school involved, but the timing of this implies that this is a play to try to strong arm UNLV into a payday now.*

no clue............
I'd say if I pressed hard enough, I could find some loophole where I could play one more year..........

I never redshirted. Some things were promised to me that I didn't get.
I could sue for 1 more year......🤔

@Weezer's Mom loves old timey bluegrass music. When ETSU got its Bluegrass program, she demanded to take it all in!

Seriously if you havent heard of Ickes and Hensley, you're welcome.

Here's another.

Fyi, Trey is a Johnson Citian. Great ambassador for ETSU.

Rob won about 750,000 awards with Blue Highway. And has done jazz, instrumental, and Gospel albums. Including a Grammy with Jerry Douglas.

So according to this report. Sluka gave the Head Coach Barry Odom a "Or Else" 😂😂😂 bet that went over well with Odom with that scowl on his face.

So in-season NIL negotiations are gonna become a thing?
No. When you whelch in this arena, it bites you long term. This’ll be a cautionary tale for others if true. People forget this MONEY isn’t laying in a vault waiting to be freely spent. Businesses and financial parties allocated it for said use. And they didn’t become availed of the funds by doing bad BUSINESS.

None of what you said is untrue. But there are 2 sides to the equation. Some coaches/NIL are also being completely unethical in flat out telling lies to recruits that now have much more serious consequences. It will take players calling them out publicly to get things to happen on the up and up. Transparency.
What I am about to post comes from comment sections of news articles, so take it for what it's worth..

"Sources" say the school met the NIL agreement, yet now 4 games into the season, UNLV is undefeated and a chance for the playoffs so now the kid and his parents thinks the kid is worth more money than the original agreement which UNLV will not pay, so they hired an agent and the kid will sit out the rest of the season.

There is a lot of 'he said, she said' going on right now as to what has actually happened.

Per Joe Arrigo (@joearrigofsm), a UNLV insider, "Sluka hired an NIL agent after the KU game, who's been advising him. On Monday, he met with Odom & asked for $300,000 to stay. Odom told him that's not happening, so Sluka skipped Tue practice & cleaned out his locker."

(a) UNLV can't promise Sluka anything. NIL cannot come from or be facilitated by the university. (b) If redshirting was agreed upon w/ the coach, the university would've put out a joint statement.

Former UNLV QB Matthew Sluka’s NIL representation, Marcus Cromartie of Equity Sports, told ESPN that Sluka was verbally promised a minimum of $100,000 from a UNLV assistant coach for transferring there. None of that money was paid, per Cormartie.
Once Sluka enrolled there, there was no effort by the UNLV’s collective to formalize a contract at that amount. Months after Sluka enrolled and Cormartie made multiple efforts with the staff and school to address the issue.
He said the school and collective came back with a contract of $3,000 per month for the next four months. That’s $88,000 less than what Cromartie said UNLV verbally promised up front.
The only money Sluka has received from UNLV, per Cromartie, is a $3,000 re-location stipend for his move. Cromartie said there was never an ask for more money after UNLV's hot start, only the initial amount he was promised up front.

You're right, NFL players just fake injuries and collect the rest they're owed on current contract and then become FA.
And those don’t last long…see Le’Veon Bell. Got paid but never made up the money he lost. There’s a reason he’s one of FEW.
