Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Dude it’s ridiculous. I love the Vols and I’m wanting to take my oldest daughter to her first ever game because that’s what my dad and I did every year as a bonding moment. But unless you’re making $100k+ a year, you just can’t afford tickets. It’s outrageous!
news flash, people making that kind of money arent going to pay those prices either.

I love UT, but asking me to take a kid to what is essentially a bar scene - for three hours of loud music, and aggression. AND pay $3-400 to do that? Hell no.

Seems like a coaching problem that won’t go away!
Dylan Sampson couldn’t stay on the field for 2 years because he couldn’t pass block,
How many others have been kept out because they can’t pass block?
I hear that way to much, see it’s true way to often when they do play.

Definitely a coaching trend that needs to change!
Lol…RB has to pass block. Saw it again last night that our back stepped up and couldn’t stop the blitzer. It’s part of the position. But we also had two pretty good RB’s in front of him, too.

3-3-5 or 3-2-6 is our kryptonite. Better figure it out bc we are going to see only that moving forward IMO.
I know how you figure it out and what you do to that and I’m not even a coach! You run the zone read and let your quarterback keep the ball! RPO on top of that and he throws a few times, and that defense would change really quick!

True; I should’ve said the passing offense hasn’t looked right. Two bad INTs in that game. The running attack carried the O that night, as well as turnovers generated by the defense.
People fail to remember this offense cannot get going without the run game. when we've tried run temp last couple games, sp OK and AR we've tripped up.

Maybe the Thronton pass in OK was tempo?

I remember sp thinking in AR game when refs blew ball dead to review, we were trying to go tempo 'man if they do this all game we lose.'

How many times last night did we get first down, line up. Then run, line up again and get a procedure call, holding, or the death knell illegal formation/ineligible receiver downfield.

Question: So this is Hype’s 4th season? Do we have any offensive lineman recruited by Ellarbee actually contributing anything of value? I think Mays was a Pruitt recruit.
Yes Jimmy, its his 4th season. And no we dont have any OL recruited by Ellarbee starting.

I can see the board is red hot so I will make my one post on the game and leave it for a bit.

The offensive players failed to execute as a group. You can make it other things, but that is what i saw.

Linemen failed to get push
Recievers failed to get separation
Nico failed to make passes

If Nico is gonna be that guy he can't overthrow those guys at the end of the game or take sacks when he could throw it away.

He's a RS freshman and he looked like one, but he gets paid the big bucks and we needed him to be better. He knows that too.

I will be in the stands for Florida, and I hope some of you will too. The season isn't over even if some of your expectations are.

A lot of good teams have lost games. We can still achieve our goals.

That is the quote that bothered me as well, especially on a very experienced and senior led team! It surely makes sense with what we saw on the field last night.
Cannot imagine, as imp as this O is to be in unison. Running tempo, and getting blocks on. Why we didnt take prep more seriously? Heard and Campbell were completely off.

This is worse than the Alabama player and it isn’t even close. Dude should’ve been arrested for that.

Worse than basically hitting a girl? It was certainly uncalled for, but I don’t know it was worse. That was Omari… guarantee the SEC jumps in on this one, fines him $1 million, and suspend him for the rest of the season. I actually do expect him to be disciplined by the coach and university… We probably won’t see him play against Florida. That will hurt as Eason is probably out for a long time too.

Exactly, individuals actually believe standing on the sidelines and taking reps in practice last year that Nico should be Pat MaHomes or Peyton Manning this year.

Nico struggled in his first stressful situation when game was close, it happens to the best of them.
In any other era, I would agree 100% and realize he is a kid and move on hoping he figures it out.

But we are in a different era, and that wasn’t worth $8M or whatever his NIL deal is. I’m all for these kids making money and getting their limelight, but different standards and expectations should, and will, come with that. It is what it is.

If you’re getting paid like a professional then professional criticisms is going to come with it.

Said it last night to my family, still think the same this morning.

Trying to block the punt and running into the punter changed the momentum back in their favor and we never got it back. So stupid to even take a chance of that happening
It was a terrible call. He was blocked into him. Ross had the block earlier in the year, so his job is to attack the punter and see if he can get there.

Well, he did throw that guy into a girl.
