Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Heck no. A college football game against an FCS opponent should never cost more than $30. UTC game this year was $70+. Now they want “10%” more per ticket. I’ll sit at home doing something else with my kids before I pay those prices and I make more yearly than the amount another poster posted earlier.
Supply and demand.

Secondary, OL, Receviers were the most awful. Out of the entire disaster those 3 stood out. Arkansas DL couldn’t get much pressure all season until last night. So ridiculous. Dumb penalties for the millionth time on the road. Nothing has changed on the road. Same BS. Entire thing pissed me off

and yeah, i know, but in the rewatch, the lack of holding calls were downright dirty. i've counted 4 very bad ones in the first 12 minutes of play. D. Bailey is held like a newborn baby every other play he's in
This. I feel TN will get called for holding but the opponents never get called. Doesn't matter who the opponents are.

Big Ole Glen’s unit sure showed up last night Bigtime…. Blue font. As did the defense that couldn’t get off the field mostly first half and then the last drive in the game against a backup quarterback. Pathetic awful inexcusable loss. That’s what it is. Can’t defend this one. Everyone was garbage

Would be curious to watch from a different view (behind Nico) how many times a guy was open but Nico ate it and it allowed pressure to get to him. The long play on the last drive was one such example even tho he was able to make something of it. Nico will be fine tho. Just needs to trust what he’s seeing and pull the trigger.

Oh, by no means am I out on Heupel. However, Elarbee has to go.
To be clear, neither am I. I think he’s the best thing that’s happened to TN football since, at minimum, 2007. But I can make a better argument for early 2000s. That being said, last night was inexcusable from a being prepared standpoint to an atrociously managed game. And that, along with the ones he’s had the past three seasons, make him worthy of more scrutiny.

I’m over it.

10-2 and the playoffs still on the table.

Let yesterday be a wake up call. I feel bad for Florida next week.
I’m not over it but I’m still optimistic that they fix things. Hopefully with Heard, he’s just getting into game shape and he starts playing like the player everyone expected him to be. If Nico’s blindside becomes secure I think we see him playing a lot better and as well as the offense as a whole.

Defense kept the score low enough to win. Their big issue is they left the clock running by not getting off the field on 3rd downs. Just like last year at UF. The biggest red flag to me is what is this offense we are running? There is no creativity so far this season.

Tennessee football really does feel like Groundhog Day.

Every season we have some bizarre loss where the game just feels "off" from start to finish. And it's usually right when the team starts to buy into its own hype and they go up against a hungry opponent. And to make it worse, we inevitably end up with some major injuries to key players during that game as well.

At this point, go ahead and pencil in the Miss State game next season as being that bizarre game where they'll be better than we expect and we'll be ranked and they'll whip us in some ugly affair to the tune of 60,000 cowbells.

Josh will have to earn his money…. Teams have figured out how to defend us. We will have to see if Josh has a counter.

It will just be 7 screens for 35 yards with a different wide receiver.
That’s how our QB is taught to read the play. It’s man on the outside, and one DB is usually well off the LOS. It gets one WR in space with another one needing to block. We’ve been running that since day one under Heupel. Just more noticeable when we lose. Velus Jones took it 70 yards on play one against UK in Heupel’s first year.

Which qb are dominating sec teams on the road immediately?
Tua, Bryce Young, Manziel, Ewers, will rogers under Leach. And then plenty more that sat the bench for 2 years and then shined when they finally got playing time. And then plenty more outside the SEC, which according to Dave Bartoo the SEC has the lowest home field advantage, the team with better recruiting wins 74% of the time the last decade regardless of where it’s played
