Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Bru is good. Nico hasn’t helped him out much. Bru also isn’t the best fit for Heupels scheme
Bru is fine, I just don't get why they don't use him more.

Like those screens to Squirrel. Squirrel has gone and picked up quite a few first downs that way, but if anyone is there he's taken down immediately.

Give Bru a blocker and let him work. One guy typically has a hard time brining him down.

Personally, I think Nico's development so far has been slower than we hoped. That's not anything against Nico. He is a RS freshman. I also think our OL is a serious, serious problem.

It's possible that we're just not who we thought we were. Right now, we may just be a team with a RS Freshman QB behind a bad OL. Not a recipe for world-beating. If so, that explains Heupel's sudden change of offensive philosophy.

With that said, we are 4-1. Win out and we still have hopes for the playoffs.

Most likely the case. Sucks more for recruiting than anything. Getting a “generational QB” and putting him back there to get sacked 4 times a game will have other 5 stars noticing.

Win out and we are in the playoffs no doubt. Splitting Bama and UGA then makes it interesting

I prefer a bigger WR catching that because he can break a tackle. I’m surprised we haven’t seen more TE down the seams…I think it’s open.
I can agree with that. I wish we would stop running right up the middle bc it goes faster. Teams know we are going to do that and pinch their lineman down.

I was thinking about that last night. Both Bama and UGA have those losses. Wins against them may not look as good as we once thought they would. i.e. If our only two losses had been against highly ranked UGA/Bama, we'd have a decent shot at the playoff.

But a loss against Arky and one of UGA/Bama (who lost to Vandy...) may not be as enticing. The sad fact is that this team just made their road MUCH harder. And as we were cheering the losses for UGA and Bama, we were cheering on the increased difficulty of that road. 😬

What angle did you watch the game from? Can you show where receivers never got separation?

People want to hate squirrel so bad but he has been an elite deep threat and multiple times last night he had his man beat deep bad and Nico could not put the ball where it needed to be

It’s a shame he was used out wide to extend the field with Joe Milton but less so with Nico. Can’t understand why because we don’t seem to have anyone else who gets consistent separation besides Thornton who seems to be made of glass

That's the only thing I can come up with. The only other options would be that CJH had a lobotomy, or he had money on Arky.

I love Squirrel, but Elite deep threats don’t fall down every time they catch the ball. I’ve never seen a deep ball where Squirrel has stayed on his feet.

I’m surprised at how indecisive Nico is when he’s flushed out of the pocket. It’s like he can’t decide whether to throw or run.
I feel like he has been told to run as little as possible. They are handicapping his game, by not just letting him play with his natural instincts.

Probably both. But one is a RS Freshman. That can be accepted and grown on. Another group is in the 4th year of coaching and development under one regime.
Probably both, but more of one than the other, I think. Nico is not holding the ball too long when the run is getting chronically stuffed with 5 in the box and three down linemen. We have NO CHANCE at a passing game when teams can do that.

Non football, but does anyone have a suggestion where to stay the night about 2 hours outside of Memphis off of 40 toward Nashville?
Meeting a breeder in Memphis tomm to pick up a dog and we’re going to leave this eve. Grab a room somewhere tonight, head to Memphis in the morning and then get the hell outta dodge!
Im behind and don’t know if this has been answered but Jackson ,Tn would fit the bill.

If Florida beats us it’s because of the curse rather than them actually being better. But I do think we lose to Alabama, but I did last week too.
We had to make it thru the season at 10-2 to make the playoff. Getting undefeated until Bama week was crucial. I’m just more concerned with why Heupels offense is looking so bad.

Playoff or bust mindset is why y’all are losing it. Almost everyone was at 9-3 pre season, but now it’s a disaster if we miss the playoff because we beat a bad NCST and OU team and some thought we were something we weren’t.

How did Arkansas only have 10 sacks on the year and we allowed 4? It’s probably the same reason why we can’t run the ball against a light box. People know what the answer is, but don’t want to acknowledge how to actually fix it. CJH included.
