Recruiting Football Talk VIII

In 2022, they put Bama at 5 and us at 6 with same records even though we beat them.

Unfortunately, last year showed how influential ESPN is in the process. I don’t think there is any doubt that ESPN wanted Bama for ratings. ESPN was pushing the Bama narrative the last Saturday as games were being played. Plus, Heather Dinich is the committee mouth piece, and she was preparing her story as to why the committee picked Bama.
When your starting QB goes down and you get absolutely blasted by a terrible team (even though they got stolen signs and you'll never convince me otherwise), having the same record isn't telling the whole story.

I see people making the point about ‘22…

When we lost Hooker we were not the same team, we weren’t the team anymore that beat Bama so I understood why we dropped below them. Same reason why FSU didn’t make it last year
Which I disagree with because teams still won games to be in that position. However, in 2022, neither Bama or UT made the playoff, so losing a player didn’t matter for a NY6 bowl game. No reason to put Bama at 5 because we lost Hooker. Who cares what non-playoff bowl games get? It was pretty disrespectful and ridiculous to me. Again, there is bias involved.

Who cares that Hooker got hurt for a non-playoff bowl game? Then, if on the field results don’t matter, let’s just simulate it in August and be done. The same record, and we beat them!

Probably not rain haymakers on a guy that wasn’t actively fighting me. That’s just me though.
We only saw a small part of that...it seems fishy that none of the leadup is posted.

But answer the question..HOW would you have handled a guy that was physically refusing to comply?...just stand there and look at him? Do nothing and walk away?

You say the guy was raining haymakers on him after the guy was tased and the idiot was STILL refusing to comply..

It would be different if they told the guy he was under arrest and he had complied and THEN they started wailing on him. Y'all are acting like the dude was doing nothing wrong, and you don't know anything that led up to what was posted...I don't either, but I can safely assume the guy was told to comply and he didn't...so he got complied.

We also got blasted by usc, if you want to talk specifically about on field results.

The committee has always says they rank on the best teams, not the best resume or record. The resume and record is used an an input, but it's not the only thing.

So yes, if your starting QB gets injured, they're going to rank you according to how good they feel you are without your starting QB, in addition to other variables like who you beat and by how much.

I don't agree with them, I think it should be based solely on record and resume; but they've clearly stated they don't operate that way.

And these are puppy and lizard ppl we are talking about here. Who knows what level of degeneracy was taking place before they had to wack'em in the head a few times.

The bearded guy called the dude the N word after he got tazzed and then asked to fight him. In that event should the black cop not whoop his ass? Lol
Dude...I seriously do not understand what these milksop cop haters want from these guys.

I was a criminal that hated all those dirty crooked cops for harassing me all the time..but it's amazing how that when I quit being a criminal and breaking the freakin law 50 times a day, that they suddenly quit bothering me...it's almost like a magic wand was waved or something....just AMAZING I tell ya..

In the ESPN article they did mention that they could honor the head to head if AL beat LSU.
Just watched a podcast that gave a break down on LSU-A&M-Texas-UGA-Bama-UT
and what each team needs to happen.
😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 we need Bama to win Saturday 🤢🤮 it makes our game aganist UGA winner take all, basically.
That’s assuming we win out.

That’s one loss. But we weren’t comparing us to USC.

Bama beat a 8-4 Texas, 8-4 Ole Miss, and 8-4 Mississippi State. Lost to us and LSU.

We beat a 8-4 Pitt, 9-4 LSU (who beat Bama and went to the SECG), 7-5 UK. We beat 6 bowl teams. We not only beat Bama but beat the other team who beat Bama by 27. Yet our loss to USC hurt us?

So, if it’s comparable, they throw out head to head? Nonsense. They pick and choose.

It accidentally worked out for us because we got to beat Dabo and Clemson like a drum. That's the best I can say of it.

Who beat Bama by 27? Bama didn't get blasted by anybody. We did. The team who blasted us had a terrible record, the team who barely beat Bama didn't.

And we lost our starting QB, and the committee said they were ranking taking injuries into account, which is part of why we fell. It's also why fsu fell, so you saw that they're consistent in ranking based on injuries.

This is what is stealing sleep from me. Why have the Vols moved from a fast paced hurry up offense to one where the entire offensive team stares at the sideline 'til the play clock is at 15 seconds or so and then gets set for the play?
Because every time we actually do that and get moving, some jackass fakes an injury and kills the momentum. So it's arguably worse for us because it makes the offense all herky jerky.
