You don't understand someone hyping something and then being wrong?I like Josh Pate usually but this is ridiculous. Just last week he had Clemson 5th in his power ratings. He was waxing poetically about how they were coming on for a potential playoff run. He also all but guaranteed they would beat Louisville based on them coming off a bye and Louisville playing 7 straight games. And now he says they're essentially done as an elite program. Seriously?
I don't disagree with his ultimate conclusion but why hype them up for weeks now. I found it hilarious the media was crowning Clemson they last month or so because they've been beating up on bad teams. They only teams above. 500 they've faced this year are Georgia and Louisville and both teams dog walked them. Josh Pate should have never bought into them.
Let it stand here, I have watched a lot of Tennessee football in my time and this is the best team we have ever had, in spite of the perceived results so far.Making a statement of potential dynamism versus current, lack thereof. You can condescend about purported or perceived football knowledge deficiencies, but my statement stands.
See my post on USF offense. Run properly it is very effective.
To me this game tells as much as any of the past 5. This needs to be an “everything worked” game and not a “we’re so close” game, against the worst team/defense in the sec by a landslide. All this playoff scenario talk is a waste of time right now. I only care about what we'll see from the team against Mississippi State. Hopefully they get Thornton more involved in the passing game early...maybe even get Sampson a few catches...and put a TD on the board early in the first quarter. Nico is rounding into form and him having another good game before playing UGA is important for his confidence before going on the road against a team that's probably going to go all out to pressure him. Mississippi State also has a better offense than Kentucky, so they won't be a complete pushover for our defense.
We need to see a complete game in all phases with a convincing win that continues to build momentum and confidence for this team before heading to Athens. Beat UGA and the playoff stuff handles itself.
This is not being talked about enough. A HOME PLAYOFF GAME IN NEYLAND.Sadly, I’m not sure we’re gonna get a home playoff game in Neyland. Win out and we’re a top 4 seed. Lose a game and we’d be more likely in the 9-12 range instead of 5-8
I believe that Bru is not 100% and he was still laying the wood out there Saturday. He was probably off camera on a lot of his blocks but he was looking to jack some fools up.Bru said once that he feels like it improves our passing game to run plays early where we can "soften up" the corners and let them be the ones taking the hits. I think "soften up" was his phrase; if not, some similar euphemism.
Yeah, I don't think this offense would have any trouble at all scoring on an Al Wilson & Deon Grant defense. . . i'm not sure a Tee Martin & Peerless Price could do much, really. That would actually be fun to watch. '98 Offense vs this year's Defense.Let it stand here, I have watched a lot of Tennessee football in my time and this is the best team we have ever had, in spite of the perceived results so far.
I know the refs screwed us majorly on his deep ball where even the announcers commented how the defender had a hold of his arm the entire time so he could only try and catch it with one hand, two refs watching, yet no call. You can't make this up.I believe that Bru is not 100% and he was still laying the wood out there Saturday. He was probably off camera on a lot of his blocks but he was looking to jack some fools up.
The hurry up is the getting to the line of scrimmage to keep the other team from substituting. We go fast or slow it down depending on the situation. We have hurried up and ran a lot of clock this year. This is what is stealing sleep from me. Why have the Vols moved from a fast paced hurry up offense to one where the entire offensive team stares at the sideline 'til the play clock is at 15 seconds or so and then gets set for the play?
why would he transfer if he's truly been hurt on and off this season? I too hope he stays...If he was smart, he’d stick around. Look at how many guys in this offense make a huge jump in year 3 (Wright, Sampson). Heck, even Jabari Small had 13 TD’s as a junior.
I hope he looks at Sampson and how he patiently waited his turn and sticks around.
Needed this BADLY. Thank you, brother.Happy Monday
November 4, 2024: Do not underestimate your ability to come out of this funk. Stay focused on the positive aspects of where you are and what you are doing, and be done with condemnation. The Lord has not condemned you, but instead brought you to a higher place spiritually through the things you have suffered. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit
Just win baby!Ideally those teams all eat each other alive.
The only thing I’m confident in is:
LSU needs to beat Bama
Uga needs to beat Ole Miss
Texas needs to beat TAMU
If that could happen and LSU could lose again also, that would all but gaurantee us a playoff birth as one of only 3 sec teams with 2 or less losses, assuming we take care of business aside from a loss in Athens.
Last year's Nico says hi. If he was ready and could have a significant impact he would be out there.I know this has already been said a lot, but we really need to play Mike Matthews more next week. I don’t care how. Find a way. Too many drops occurring, and I also don’t even want him to entertain the idea of transferring because we sat him on the bench all year while other guys can’t catch,
anyone else notice or has it been discussed, bama was on a bye week and move up several spots to #11?!
