General reflection on the new playoff scheme. Not a gripe.

Clearly the people who said that the playoffs would greatly diminish conference championships to near zero (as they have done in basketball and baseball) were correct. The biggest concern, even in the conference championship game itself, is the playoff implications of losing the conference championship game. It could cause the second ranked SEC team to miss the playoffs. How bizarre would that be? And if the second place team does make the playoffs, they do so as the only team without a bye during the playoffs: a clear disadvantage.

The conference winner does get a well timed bye. The other teams (unless they are the conference runner-up) get a bye the previous week.

And even for the winner of the conference championship game, there is thought that perhaps a 5-seed is the better spot because the 5-seed hosts its first round game. And surely in our league, the second ranked SEC team in Atlanta will be a much tougher draw than playing the 12-seed anywhere, much less at home.

As I have said, there is no perfect way to determine these things.

As for now, I am delighted to be in first place in the SEC! GB🍊!

In fairness UGA plays fewer home games than others and Auburn and GT have been horrible. GT looking better tho. But it’s hard to beat any SEC team on the road. It just is.

If Nico isnt good to go Saturday, Im curious to see if Gaston plays the whole game Saturday or if we give Merk a couple of drives

This Georgia team isn't like the one from year's past. Meh run defense, meh secondary, meh rushing attack, and a QB that can't handle pressure in the slightest... Also, they are on pace to set records with drops. VOLS defense should feel great about this one

Great point. And still won by 19.

If we had chosen to score there, our winning margin in the second half (20-7) would have equalled our first half winning margin with Gaston playing (20-7).
