Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Indiana is College Football's "Cinderella story", Indiana gets in at 11-1 no matter if others like it or not.

Same goes for Notre Dame as long as they win out.
Lol no thats not how this works SOS is a thing otherwise we would have saw Boise state in the BCS championship game back in that day you just donā€™t like that the discussion has switched from Tenn being out

Worrisome thought...Pavia is gonna run wild on us if our front 7 doesn't wrap him up better than they did Van Buren tonight....and that stupid inside run was completely pissing me off...wtf was that about?

I know we didn't give up many points and the defense wasn't awful...but that's the first time I thought the defense looked a little blase all year.

We miss Pili.
We are missing Pili for sure,

But we just held Miss St to its lowest yardage of the entire season (271) and 2nd lowest scoring.

Our standard is just so damn high now. That's a good thing

Well I'm not the doom and gloom individual. IF Tennessee loses to Georgia the worse case scenario to me is, Tennessee doesn't host a playoff game plays on road instead.
There you go Captain Know it All

Crazy that our defense had its worse night so far this year and we still held them to 14 points šŸ˜‚
Miss St figured something out with motion at the snap in their run game. Our LBā€™s did a bad job with their fits when they did that, it will be fixed. They had less than 100 yards passing and less than 300 yards of offense. Defense overall did their job.

Well they did just kill LSU at LSU. They also beat UGA. Besides Bama, who have we beat?

Two wins against good teams
We have one.

Hereā€™s the records for the teams weā€™ve played.
Vols: 37-48
Bama: 44-41

We squeeze by mediocre teams because of defense. If the offense wouldā€™ve taken care of business we would be having a different convo. Reality is, if our defense wasnā€™t this good our record would probably be around 4-4.

Also, when the announcer last night says, ā€œMiss St averages more points in the SEC than UTs offense doesā€, thatā€™s an issue
Thank God playing defense is a part of football šŸ˜

Really don't like that Ole Miss put UGA backs against the wall right before they play UT. With that being said, this defensive will be the best defense UGA has faced. If you can just score 21 then UT can win.
Agree. If we can muster 21-24 points no matter how we get it, I think we win. The defense shows up on the road. I think Beck will give us 1-2 picks unless they limit him to screens and quick throws.

I just want to win out so I can sit back and not get worked up when the other conferences rig games like BYU (or Miami) to try and get more of their teams in the playoffs. If we can win out, hell Iā€™ll pull for other conference few to get more in so we donā€™t have to play SEC in the playoffs.

So Heup said Nico will be good to go next week, was out due to precautionary reasons. Will be interesting to see if everyone else will be good to go...

Does anyone have specifics on the Bishop injury, will he be back?

Seldon sighting was weird... this season has been a mystery as to what is truly going on. I hope he's just been dinged up and can't fully heal. We will need him next season so I hope he doesn't transfer like some have speculated.

Penalties, overthrows, mistakes, still headlined what could have been last night on offense. When are we going to finally have a "clean" game?

They were pushing, grabbing, knocking us in the facemask after the play, all night, holding Pierce, right in front of the refs, and no calls ever... Twice the penalty was so obvious that both commentators and the rules expert said they should have called it or they called it and they should not have...Disturbing being that it was Ms St AT HOME...

I have no idea what is going to happen in Athens at this point. I think it just depends on where Ga is mentally after the loss to ole miss, and if we can finally play a somewhat clean game and connect on open WR's...And NOT turning the ball over.

Count on the Refs straight F'in us every chance they get. When I would call it out at the first of the season, my wife would play devil's advocate, but now at this point in the season, she's agreeing with me as to how obvious it has become. The SEC definitely as something to grind with UT.

Hope everyone is healthy for Saturday.

I'm a little less concerned about Vandy, watching all the hits finally adding up and showing with their QB... he's going to still be sore after the LSU game coming into our game in Nash.

I have a feeling Clemson will beat Miami in the ACC championship.

They still have to play South Carolina they could go into that game against Miami with 3 losses lol
I agree was just saying I think Clemson will beat Miami. A lost to South Carolina would have no bearing on them making the ACC championship. Theyā€™d likely be the only 3 loss team there if they lose to South Carolina and win the ACC ship lol. Clemson will have a ā€œtoughā€ game on the road against Pitt this upcoming weekend. SMU is tops in the conference right now though.

Sure can you explain the correlation with SEC nation ranking to a CFB ranking?

Itā€™s not that SEC Nation has input on the CFP ranking. But narratives matter. If we do lose to Georgia, narratives will be what get teams in and out of the playoff. Very clear now that ESPN is already pushing the narrative that Alabama is actually better than us.

I had hope I would be wrong. I thought head to head would matter more and figured the better our win against Alabama looks the better it is for our playoff hopes. But itā€™s clear that was wrong, and I shouldnā€™t have hoped Bama would beat LSU.

We just have to take care of business next week so narratives donā€™t matter.
