Recruiting Football Talk VIII

We will beat UGA with whichever QB starts if your WRs will catch their targets. Even if they catch 2/3 +10yd targets

We’ve got to limit the boneheaded penalties, turnovers, and drops.

I don’t see UGAs offense having much success against our defense. Defense usually travels.

We win if we execute on offense.

I am going to pull the last hair on my head out if we get another stupid DL offside penalty from lining up in the neutral zone. (I started the season with hair like Fabio)

He's 7th for rushing yards on the season with 1129
Now tied for 3rd for rushing TDs on the season with 20

Jeanty is clearly having the best season for a RB this year, but against far inferior competition. I think the biggest roadblock for Sampson to even be a finalist for the Heisman is actually Kaleb Johnson at Iowa. They're not having a great season, but he's having a great season and against Big 10 competition.

If Dylan has a Travis Stephens at Florida type game (200+ 2 TDs) that leads us to a win then he might at least put himself in NY as a finalist.
Jeanty hasn't played much, but when he has, he's produced bigly. 7.7 YPC, 192 yds, and 3 TDs vs Oregon. 10.0 ypc, 259 yds, and 4 TDs vs ranked wazzou st.

Considering only what we know, this is the biggest game of the season. Would you consider it bigger than the SEC title game or a playoff game? According to some, if we don't win here, we don't make the playoffs or the SECCG.
No, we'll clearly be in as long as we keep it close and beat Vandy.

The playoff games are most important. We just need to peak at the right time.

ESPN isn't giving us a 70+% chance to make the playoffs based on our <50% chance of beating UGA lol.

Every game is the biggest from here, but it’s not bigger than the SEC title game or a playoff game.

Lance Heard was our highest graded OL according to PFF vs Mississippi State

Good to see he’s starting to play better down the stretch
Hey hey people believing in PFF now 👀

As opposed to when we were a 4-7 win team, graded poorly every year, but PFF "stunk" 😅

Get ready for all the bs deep cut penalties in Athens. Illegal touching, ineligible lineman downfield, overcompetitiveness, etc.

Don’t anybody take my comments the wrong way; I ain’t no doomer for this weekend. I’ve got full faith in what I think is the very best defense in college football this year to go down and empty out Sanford. I don’t really care which QB plays between Moore and Nico because I don’t think we’re going to need a lot of points to win this one anyhow (Not to mention we’ve got the league leading rusher to take the top off).

I haven’t seen any predictions yet, but here’s mine:

Vols 21
Puppies 7

Heupel gets the biggest road win of his career so far and we get to go to Atlanta and win the whole damn thing

The “Assisting the Runner” call we got Saturday is literally the only time in my life I’ve seen that called. I’m sure it’s been called elsewhere, but considering the amount of football I watch, it must be among the rarest of penalties.

We're going to win! But F your "deserve." (Nothing personal.)

fyp

You can fill in the other versions of the same, yourself. We would have to lose (but we will not!) in order to descend to the 2-loss club that is pretending they should be in over us.

Opps: @VolGee4 beat me to the punch. Well played.
Mostly this.

I just can’t wrap my head around a 2 loss team that didn’t even play in its conference championship having a chance at a Natty.

I guess this where my dislike of a 12 team playoff comes out.

It’s wild to me that a team that loses in its conference championship game might be seeded lower than a team that didn’t play it, not to mention they have to play one more game.

I am 57 and watch a lot of ball too. I’ve never seen it

Exactly! Thank you I forgot about that one. Another deep cut track from the officials.

That last time I was in Athens when we beat them, those bastards turned their scoreboard off the second the clock it zero to prevent people from taking photos.

So if you're going and we're winning, start snapping photos on repeat with a couple of seconds remaining.

I remember that. So salty.

Well, I really and truly didn't mean that "at" you, but at this situation, as I said. Thanks for understanding and believing me when I said so.

Well, there are only a few one-loss teams in the league and we're one of them. Let it stay that way all the way to 15-1!

Immediate thoughts on the upcoming Georgia game:
1) this goes without saying, but we need Nico to be ready to go.

2) have to survive the early storm. The building will be electric. The atmosphere will out Oklahoma and Arkansas to shame. Georgia will be desperate and playing with its hair on fire. Can’t let the environment and Georgia’s early adrenaline surge rattle us in the early going.

3) defensive line and linebackers have to defend the run. Georgia doesn’t possess a strong running offense. We will be able to rush the passer. Beck is turnover prone when pressured. Can’t let this be a game where we give a struggling quarterback a get out of jail free card by letting the run game beat us.

4) big plays. For all the flaws they have, Georgia is still a good team with a really good defense. It won’t be easy to drive the ball methodically against them. Need to capitalize on the big pass plays when they’re open.

I honestly need to see us perform well in a truly hostile environment for me to believe we can do it. Too many road flops the last few seasons. However, if we just don’t beat ourselves and do the little things right, we’re plenty good enough to win this one.

No worries, haha. I’ll never take things in a message board personally.

I expanded on my post to further explain my thinking, if you care to look
