Recruiting Football Talk VIII

SIAP: CKC is now destroying the "she can't recruit" narrative. Secured commitment from #6 overall player in the class.

Yeah the more I hear CKC and the more I watch the team the better she gets!

Someone pointed out in the last basketball game thread for them that you're just likely not going to have high % shooting nights in the women's game for whatever reason so if you know going in you're at best shooting in the 30% from the field and deep the smartest option is to increase your attempts.

Right now the Lady Vols are 4th in FGA in the country at 80.5 a game, 5th in 3pt attempts at 36.5

They shoot 43.5% FG which isn't great (141st in country) but if you just look at the 2 PT% things are better with 58% good enough for 29th. The 3PT % will get better as the season progresses and we're already leading the country in offensive rebounding and steals, while being really good at keeping our turnovers down. 17.5 a game (160th).

So yeah...same FG% as Harper's squad last season BUT taking 17 more shots a game = more points.

So this means the money is coming in for Tennessee to cover and for Tennessee to win?

Perfect example here..may not look like much but…it’s a good sign…the spread was at -11 i could be wrong..but nonetheless that spread has went down 2 points already…as you can see Georgia right now clearly has all the money…so the 36 betting% you see thats only 12% of the money is what’s moving that line…”BIG MONEY” I’ll be taking the Tennessee ML this week if this holds up…big money moves the lines..I can not stress enough the kind of money you have to be laying on the table for that line to move even a point. @TrippieRedd @mrMet @Enki_Amenra

To accommodate the sec and other conference tiebreaker scenarios, somebody made a calculator. You can put in who wins what games and see the outcomes. If we lose to UGA, and A&M loses to Texas, the Gumps get in.

Calculator
I said last week...if we don’t win the game at UGA...we are probably out, it will take a lot of crazy upsets to get us back in..and it is total 🦬💩.

Our chances went from 60+% to 39% even though we won..mostly because of Ol Piss beating UGA.

I hope our guys understand what is on the line Saturday. If win this game, we are in the playoffs barring a collapse against a good Vandy team in Nashville...but if we lose, they are gonna screw us.

Now this breakdown makes me feel better. Typically early money is public money.

I hear ya. I will believe it when I see it. Struggled to get a consistent push all year. They had some nice puling plays versus MSU, the one off tackle to left comes to mind.

But that was nearly all Sampson, sans the nice block from... the TE.

When Lewis and Seldon are in. They dont seem to possess the vision, or dynamic abilities as Dylan.

That's why I think we have to dial up some plays. The frenetic, find something that works then move back to two yards. Tempo, then no tempo is helter skelter.

The play calling, is getting better🥴.

Would love to see some first downs, but stick to run game until mid 35+.

Hope we can run an RPO, or roll Nico out. Use those big bodied receivers on a slant. we've hit on it more than once.

But the changing away from something that is working has to stop. I think we're thinking too much. Three FG's aint gonna cut it.
I kinda agree with you..many times we do not get push, but we also do get really good push sometimes...it seems like consistency is a problem.

Kitselmam blowing that block on the 4th down GL, and Lewis subsequently just running straight into the guy that Kitselman missed instead of bouncing it outside and walking into the end zone sucked.

Had a Mandela Effect moment this morning. We were sitting around the table talking and someone mentioned the harvest festival at Dollywood. I asked if anyone had been to Kenny Rogers theme park Kennywood. A couple of guys laughed but three out of the nine people there were convinced Kenny Rogers had a theme park. Apparently there is a park in Pennsylvania called Kennywood, but it has no affiliation with Kenny Rogers. Any of you morans think Kenny had a theme park? I would have bet money that Kennywood was is version of Dollywood.

Not sure about Kenny Rogers but Conway Twitty had a tourist attraction known as "Twitty City" in Hendersonville

The argument (not saying I agree) is in a hypothetical where UGA beats us and UT and Bama both win out, Bama would have the better SOS and overall resume.

I don’t buy it though because you can’t just forget Bama lost to Vandy, and at the end of the day any justification that starts out with “if Tenn didn’t have this defense” is crap, because we doing fact have an elite defense and it should count for something.
I get it. I’m not arguing against what “may happen” at the end of the season if we have the same record as them. A human committee will justify putting whomever in the playoffs that they want, by whatever means and arguments they deem necessary.

I’m just saying it’s absurd for anyone to have them ranked ahead of us at this point in time.

Either way, my Jimmie’s aren’t rustled thinking about what is, or what may be, just pointing out that I think it’s silly for sec nation or anyone else to have them ranked ahead of us in power rankings or whatever.

Ole Miss blitzed a team we lost to.
UGA has 2 Elite wins.
Ole Miss lost to UK at home and lost to average LSU team.

UGA has 2 elite wins? Clemson is nowhere close to an elite win....and Texas is good but probably not elite since they are one of the few teams in the top ten that does not currently have a top 25 win. Our win over Bama is better than the Texas win.

Because they teach kids from peewee not to do it.
It happens all the time and never gets called, the rules dude said so during the broadcast. Fact is pulling a runner is not nearly as effective as pushing and has little effect. If you watch you will see it all the time. Javonte Spraggins was pulling on Samson on the record td vs Kentucky.

Sucks, losing at Arkansas will be the backbreaker for us this season if we don't win out.

For me coming off an emotional win at OU then a bye week playing at Arkansas before playing our two biggest rivals back to back was always a trap game.

Also didn't expect that to be the offense that put up the most points and yards on our defense (through 9 games).

Ole Miss just took good advantage of the hogs secondary injuries. If you look at the stats it's pretty obvious attrition has hurt the hogs since playing us. They're 1-2 and in those 3 games they've allowed 200+ passing yards and at least 68% completion. Before the LSU game they had only given up 60% completion once to UAB.

Guys were open. Calls werent made on receivers, yes. Holding penalties perhaps didnt get called either.

At end of the day, OL did NOT play well. Bad penalties, not blocking....Arkansas' secondary played their best game. Running game wasn't consistent, and Nico was off.

Still yet, had a chance to win. Bone headed play on Special Teams. Not getting into end zone, but that's been this offense's issue all year.

If anybody wants to get a feel of how this week's bracket may look like. Heather Dinich has her bracket posted for tonight on the ESPN app. Only bad thing it's behind a paywall and I'm not paying $12 dollars .

Once again she knows more than any of the so called experts on this topic.
