Recruiting Football Talk VIII

They should make the criteria and expand or reduce the playoffs size each year based on the teams that meet the eligibility requirements.
What they say they are doing is below. This is the reason I don't hate the playoff, but we are too many steps away from it being more equitable to power leagues.

BIG10 & SEC get 4 spots each and have their own process for claiming those. So basically league standings.

Additionally they are planning to mandate cross conference matchups between big10 and sec. This would help confirm seeding and sos.

The other garbage leagues can settle their 4 spots themselves.

No clue how you sort the byes in the above, but when they go to 16 I would stop byes and just play worst to first like NCAA. That will eliminate a lot of the handwringing. Again SEC and BIG10 would go by league standings.

I think Mississippi State might be able to eliminate either Mizzou or Ole Miss from playoff contention.

They've been a tough out all year for better teams. Played at Texas 35-13 in a game similar to ours. At Georgia it was 41-31. Against Texas A&M it was 34-24. And of course in Neyland 33-14.

They host Mizzou on the 23rd. Then the Egg Bowl in Oxford is always a dog fight.

the deeper into November that we get, there will be teams that think they are set and slip up. either an underdog has the game of their season, or the favorite loses their edge because they are daydreaming about the playoff.

it happens every year.

Pretty sure the fighting Beamers are about to eliminate Dorkwitz.

My concern with Nico is that even if he clears protocol on Friday, one normal but hard hit Saturday could put him out for a couple weeks. You just don't know. It all depends on the severity of the initial concussion, and I've heard mixed reports on how bad it was.
Kirby is going to make Nico's life a living hell if Nico is not 110%

He will inform his players to hit Nico on every single play -- even late. He will have the stadium speakers cranked, he will have the stadium light show going crazy like a crackhead with a light switch.

The only advantage I could see to that is if Nico starts and Kirby wants to bring 1-4 extra rushers to hit Nico as much as possible, to lean into that and kill them with quick passes over the middle.

Has Josh Heupel met your expectations for the time he's been here?
Win or lose this game a resounding yes 👍🏻.
The culture, attitude, recruiting, and leadership is everything a Vol fan should want in a coach.
He’s a huge reason Tennessee is the Collegiate Sports Capital 🍊🍊🍊

I don't see Nico playing personally. The media leaks lead me that direction. It is not about being right or wrong either I just prefer to look ahead and be honest with the data.

I think a fully healthy Gaston is a better choice than a banged up and rattled Nico.

This is Gaston's super bowl and he clearly has no qualms about playing big and chucking the rock.

Pasty powers activate!
