Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I’m old enough to remember lots of people saying if somehow we ever get back to winning 9 or 10 games a year and 8 & 4 being worse case scenario we would never bitch about that!

Then you read the last 50 to 75 pages??
You're responding to a post that I made in the Chirstian Gass thread. It was later moved to this thread.

I was begging for that to happen last night. 1 or 2 ADs calling out corrupt officials, is not going to cause a change. It has to be every AD of every school getting screwed over. There's too much money invested for the fans and too much time invested for the student athletes, for this to continue. Somebody's got to be "watching the counters" if you know what I mean.
It is bigger than the SEC. The SEC is in the chain of command but they are not the top of the food chain. Tv and the sports book are the real powers in CFB. Where does the SEC get its money? If you think it is from attendance and merchandise you are mistaken, that is just the walking around money.

So what do you all think about this👀

You know what...I typed out a long message about it being a nightmare scenario bc I really don't want to lose to Kiffin but screw that. I'd love that matchup and I want the chance to go and beat.his.azz on their home turf. They'll be favored but that would make a win that much sweeter.

I remember before the season started (and even early in the season) when many posters here were stating that our WR corp was one of the major strengths of the team. I always felt it was average at best.

I won't make that mistake again. Gave too much credit to Brazzell before he saw the field and didn't realize Matthews would be on the milk carton. Injuries haven't helped but our receivers are mostly average and make good 2nd or 3rd options at wide receiver.

I just remember thinking "alright the offense is doing well enough. any minute now the defensive line will unleash hell. any minute now Boo or Brooks will make the big interception. any minute now the big strip or big stop or big anything will happen."

and it just never did

hard to be a bully on the road in this league

even harder to put a top-tier conference opponent out when they're fighting for their lives

Here's the other thing that I hate about playing Georgia.

Last week on the rankings show, they unveiled UGA as the first team out and held us at 7. Already a 12 vs 7 underdog story, even though UGA was a 2 TD favorite. Then Booger said he wants to see UGA OL vs our DL, and that will be the difference in this game. Booger or someone else could have just said "and Georgia hosts Tennessee this weekend as a 10-point favorite. A lot of people favor the dogs in this one." But no

It's like Kirby pays the talking heads $100,000 week to give him bulletin board material. That "UGA OL vs UT DL" comment is enough for him to repeat it every single day and tell the UGA OL how much everyone is doubting them, and they won't be crap in this game, and all this other nonsense.

And then their OL come out and play the unit's best game of the year.

Three and a half years ago this program was dead in the water, cooked, buried 100 feet deep. Heup has done an amazing job getting this program turned around.

We’re a top tier SEC team now, and top 10-15 football team in the country . We’re just not at SECC or national title quality yet….and that’s okay. But I think we’re close, and with the talent we’re bringing in the next couple classes we should be right there competing for titles.

We just got to keep grinding and stacking talent. Our breakthrough will come
We have to make it too big to rig, simple as that. Point shaving is not a exact science and like any fraud can be overcome with overwhelming volume. We have to be so good that there's nothing that can be done. Take it out of the officials' hands. In the big money games we have very little margin for error. It requires that we burn the corruption a time or two and they will go back to being happy with even money on both sides and keeping the juice. Make it to risky push it all in and use us as a big payday.

All the breaks went UGAs way. The fumble recoveries, the silly ref calls, etc. The 3-4 plays that would change the game all fell for UGA.

Bingo. We didn’t have any breaks. This loss sucked more due to the abc coverage too.

Not that it matters but after watching several people break down film it seems that Nico is flushed out opposite of where he needs to be.

We see receivers open deep at times and Nico is always being forced to the opposite side of the field.

I said in the Braves thread during the game, the fact that we weren't up more after the first quarter was a problem.
We easily should've had 17 if not 21 points. The fact that it was only 10 wasn't a good sign.

Our LBs are inexperienced and really not great at coverage. They got abused badly on Saturday.
To me it looked like UGA y was running different variations of the exact same play. Not only did we not stop it, we werent within 5-10 yards of it at times.

Tim Banks got his pants pulled down around his ankles. Same for Halzle.
